I don't understand why wouldn't he play Pavon? He is the change I was more excited about

At this point I'll be glad with a 1-0 victory, with an ugly own goal by minute 91, with all the players playing nowhere near capacities, and a heart stopping match. As long as we got those 3 points in the bag i don't care how we do it. If we get those 3 points, there will be time to improve. I we don't, its over.

The Croatian manager came out said that the match v us will be the easiest game, since they have nothing to lose(They've already got three points). Perhaps it is just a ploy and that they'll sit back and counter us and won't play a ball dominant match.

Problem is, outside the forwards , our players cant shoot on target to save their life.

Watching how disicpline the Iranian team is makes me sick of how all over the place Argentina is. Sampaoli better put his sh** together and get this right. Its over a year and I dont want to hear anymore excuses.

Good thing that he will drop Di Maria, Biglia & Rojo.

If Meza will play instead of Rojo, I'd fine as long Sampa will react quick if his original plan aint working. Perhaps he will throw in Pavon early in second half to press when Croatian defender started to tire.

I'd be embarrassed if we played like Iran. Thanks but no thanks.

And Crespo said something very profound the other day. He said he is a fan of Sampaoli's BUT he said he was only given one year and he is a guy that needs a long time for his system to come into play.

And he is correct. Look at the position he was put in. We were down in qualifying, and as we all know, qualifiers are very difficult. He tried Dybala-Icardi and Messi, two times and yet it manifested into how many points? It wasn't like he could've continued when we needed something. It is as if you are on a deadline, if something isn't working, as much as you want it to, you need to move on. Yes, we qualified in late 2017. But once you qualify, how many games do you have left to test things out? How many friendlies did we play after we qualified...? How many of those did Messi play in?

So, I am going to say it right now, whatever happens, I want Sampaoli to stay on, at least to the CA 2019. If that is a disaster then he could get replaced, that is if the AFA has the money to pay managers like they do to pay their escorts.

So, Sampaoli is trying different things, and we have Diego who knows a thing or two about bad tactics talking about "He's had a month to prepare and nothing..." it isn't as simple as people make it. With certain styles, you need a long period of time for your system to work. Once this World Cup is over then perhaps we could see the new generation come and give us something to be proud of.

Sampa should stay definetely, keep changing manager will make things worst. He's a proven manager.

Sampa biggest problem isnt only lack of games after we qualified but he's managing a team that carried a big preasure after what happened in the past. I think the lack of games is the reason why he picks lots of veterans, because he feels that he wont be able to gel the team within few friendlies if he get rid of the older guys.

Imagine Sampaoli is a manager for Iran or other non fav nations in this WC... I'm fairly convience that he would have win his first game. Chile played without the same kind of preasure that Argentina players had in Copa. Its much easier to just come out and play rather than having a gun pointing to your head if you dont win it.

My main complain would be selecting those who clearly not able to improve the team and will only make it worst (Biglia, Higuain, Rojo). Biglia and Rojo inclusion proof to be costly in first game. Yea, he reacted fast and subbed off Biglia, but the damaged has been done.

This could be disastrous, especially with the nerves that this defense displayed early on in the first game. I hope he'll be on top of things and change quicker than later, if things go awry early.

This conveyor belt of coaches needs to stop. They need to actually start building on a foundation for once, instead of firing/running off managers all the time.

Yawn... People should stay off social media and the press is probably just spreading rumors for click-bait. It is the World Cup, they want some type of drama.

I'm not surprise the top 2 favorite teams in this WC got 0 and 1 point respectively either. They surely looks functional in their first game.

We got a narrow win in 2014 first game , the only difference was actually Serbia scoring an own goal. The second half scenario was basically the same. We scored a great a goal, they hit back with a scrappy goal after our cheap defending.

I was shocked too at the report but one user on twitter made a pretty good point. Samp already has Acuna and Salvio on the two sides so having Pavon there too would make it a bit redundant. Meza is there to provide an extra option through the middle when Messi gets double/triple-teamed. You would think Lo Celso would be the better option then, but I guess Samp is seeing something we don't. That idea does make sense. Meza didn't do that much in the first game, but he did win that penalty. Hopefully he gives a better performance

At some point, the team perhaps will play with nothing to lose attitude. If that happen, we can go all the way to win it.

Hopefully the turmoil is the younger players telling the veterans if they are too scared and can't get the job done, its time for them to step aside. That being said, the report is most likely BS cuz I can't see Messi going up to Sampaoli and being pissed that Biglia, Di Maria and Rojo are dropped unless he wants to go home early. It must have been night and day having Pavon do something for you than compared to your buddy Di Maria who didn't do jack for 70 min.
