http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/e/everton/8507211.stm just when you started seeing guys coming back. no rest for mick rathbone.
is there anyone else who thinks that when someone intentionally goes in studs up and injures the other player that they too should be banned for the length of the injury??? right about now I'm pissed enough to want that ******** taken out of the game too. poor felli... I freakin knew in my gut when it happened that itwas going to be a long way - i was thinking of Yaks injury - i tried to shrug it off, but well... guess my gut was right here's hoping Arteta gets back in form faster than ever! (and that felli has a swift and easy recovery )
I wouldn't go quite that far, but it does seem as though they should suspend players longer than 3 matches for particularly dangerous tackles. I think a 5 match ban would have been a reasonable "sentence" in this particular instance. And for serious retaliatory fouls where there's no doubt that the player was trying to seriously injure the other, I think a ban for 10 or 20 matches (or even longer) would be appropriate.
I think he'll be back sooner than 6 months if I'm honest. 6 Months is pushing onto the start of next season! If the operation goes well I can see him being back this season.
