Well we could've started Fati for first choice, but honestly that's asking alot from a kid, AG and OD aren't that bad, one is still adapting and the other is super injury prone (and thus often still adapting / getting back to game shape). Neither of 2nd choice started and we saw a rare Raki re-animation. Better still he got to start with Roberto and Busi so you know we lost by 27 goals. For third choice the correct question was Umtiti or Todibo.
Yea, they made a big deal of Messi not talking much to Griezmann. In reality, everyone knows Messi rarely talk to anyone.
commentators were very critical of Hummels for giving away possession for Messi's goal, and it was a bad pass but DeJong deserves a lot of credit for that interception. i had to rewind it a couple times to see, but you can actually see him hiding behind a dortmund player so Hummels sees an open passing lane, then DeJong spots the run (i think it was Brandt) and jumps out to block the pass. other positives include Junior Firpo starting to grow into that LB role, was beaten by Sancho for the goal but he looked good otherwise, especially going forward. and Griezmann finally starting to gell with Messi and Suarez is a sight for sore eyes. more of that please. also some great goalkeeping from TerStegen, as usual.
And Umtiti saved what would've been the early BVB goal (2nd minute, after the MAtS save+rebound), and he played two games in 4 days for the first time in 15 months. IF he stays healthy that's a huge development, as when healthy he was a top10 CB. But he over did it, played injured through 2018 world cup, and has not been healthy or durable since.
