Okay since no one else has started a thread for the new boys, I'll do it. http://www.fcaugsburg.de/cms/website.php SGL Arena holds 30,000 - was home to some WWC games. Star of the team: yeah, well Simon Jentzsch Nando Rafael They lost 1:4 at home to Bayer 04 today.
I was rooting for Augsburg and I think they are a very sympathetic side from the 2nd league. They weren't honestly that bad yesterday, maybe a little unlucky (or just ineffective). I also believe they will go directly back to the 2nd league, but that should be no catastrope to them. But hopefully Luhukay won't get the boot...
I read that the club wants to be a top 20 club in Germany, so that's top 2 in the 2B. Good job managing expectations. I hope they stay up, but I doubt it will happen.
Luhukay is a huge loss, but I think Bellinghausen(sp?) might be even bigger. Many matches he was the workhorse, fan favorite, soul of the team. Not really sure why they let him walk so easily. Also, they had smart loan signings like Koo that they might not be able to replicate. Could be a tough year.
Czech press has linked FC Augsburg with Milan Petržela, 29-year-0ld RW at Viktoria Plzeň. Cites "two independent sources" as saying negotiations are "in an advanced stage." I think that would be a good signing for Augsburg if they can reach an agreement with Plzeň.
Petržela has indeed signed a 3-year contract with FCA. I think a very good move for both club and player.
It's time that Augsburg gets some love again, especially being back in Europa. Also great title btw. The Baba Rahman transfer saga continues. Chelsea and Juventus still in the mix, with both clubs offering around 20-mio for the left-back. Link
Good job B'liga on the video. Wish Fox was giving us more games though. Hope the Fuggers enjoy Europe and stay up another season.
With Weinzierl at the helm, I can see FCA make at least another top 8 finish in league standings. The veteran core is very much still in tact. And he always gets the most out of his players.
The Baba Rahman to Chelsea deal is now complete. Transfer fee is confirmed at €20 Mio, with 25% going towards his previous club Greuther Fürth. With performance bonuses this could also rise up to €30 M. This sets a new club record for transfer profits. Not too shabby for someone they signed one season ago for only € 2.5 M. Link
His replacement at left-back will be Philipp Max, who was a key player for Karlsruher in their close fight for promotion last season. He's still 21 y/o and has good room for growth.
Moritz Leiter being linked to FCA now. If there's a coach who can help revive his young career and get back on track then Weinzierl should be the one.
http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...kel_fca-macht-neun-millionen-euro-gewinn.html FC Augsburg's president, Klaus Hofmann declares this to be the most successful year in their history. They set a new club record financially with a profit of €9 Mio and have now advanced to the Europa League round of 32 knockout phase.
Wow what a signing by Augsburg, acquiring Albian Ajeti from Basel on a new contract till 2020. Very promising striker talent and was also previously linked to several PL clubs. Next transfer is complete, signing Jeffrey Gouweleeuw from AZ Almaar. He'll provide additional defensive depth now that Callsen-Bracker is likely out for the season with injury.
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/fc-augsburg/neuester-spieler-albian-ajeti-44093038.bild.html Albian Ajeti compares his playing style to that of Luis Suarez, only he does not bite lol.
Striker swap carousel on transfer deadline day. Alfred Finnbogason from Real Sociedad joins on loan, while Tim Matavz is sent to Genoa for remainder of the season.
Stafylidis with a screamer. But unfortunately, Ingolstadt came back and won 2-1. https://streamable.com/lt9j
Red Bull Leipzig have Markus Weinzierl at the top of their new coach candidate list for next season. Considering Augsburg recently extended Weinzierl's contract until 2019 without an exit clause, they'll do everything to hold onto him. However in the event he does go, FCA are ready to demand a transfer fee of 5-10 Mio for his coaching rights. http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/m...griff-auf-augsburg-trainer-44517950.bild.html
Several Premier League clubs showing interest in Dominik Kohr this summer including Tottenham, West Ham, Southampton. http://www.transfermarkt.de/tottenh...-klubs-an-kohr-interessiert-/view/news/227313
