Its amazing that they did so well that WC despite offending every religion, mythology or belief system known to exist.
I think this is worthy of this thread: Barcelona banned from transfers until 2015. http://tracking.si.com/2014/04/02/fifa-bans-barcelona-two-transfer-windows/ Pretty crazy. What will Barca do? Imagine if most MLS teams couldn't retool? I think only RSL would be immune to this. Seems like 75% of the rest of MLS changes completely every year.
And yet for Barca it's probably chump change. It seems like when I watch "The Amazing Race" (my only guilty pleasure reality show), that no matter what part of the world they are in, there always seems to be a few Barca jerseys in the background. $508k is probably less than their jersey sales in Madagascar.
Lol, $508k is absolutely NOTHING to Barca, they could probably cover that cost in the loose change they pull out of the ash trays from the ~$1.5 Million in free cars Audi gave them: http://www.worldcarfans.com/113120467075/audi-delivers-new-cars-to-barcelona-players-once-again So ********ing jealous of Alves' rs6 avant: But I think I like Ronaldo's even more: GAWD the rs6 avant is an incredible car, damn you Audi of America for not bringing it to the states.
I'm not so sure. Puyol and Valdes already said their gone. Xavi and Alves aren't getting any younger. My main point was, what would this do to a MLS team? Except for RSL and maybe a couple others, not being able to change the roster every offseason would be world ending.
So...is John Terry throwing games for money at this point? I seriously have to wonder this week. Go PSG...but it doens't really matter. Madrid is going to destroy everyone (and I dislike Real Madrid). Maybe Bayern has a shot, but Madrid is about as hot as any team I've ever seen. Like Barca at the top of their run.
Might be a good time to be playing Philly soon (too bad RSL isn't 'til next week) - Twitter buzzing with a rumored trade. Taylor Twellman @TaylorTwellman 26m Hearing @MLS trade being announced soon with @PhilaUnion shipping Jack McInerney to @impactmontreal for Andrew Wenger and more.
Rumor didn't last long <scratching head> Philadelphia Union @PhilaUnion 5m NOW: @philaunion acquire Andrew Wenger from @impactmontreal in exchange for @JackMcInerney9: http://bit.ly/1mPwjPd pic.twitter.com/9AU3vuTBbL
Hope this effects Philly for the next 10 days… Philadelphia Union @PhilaUnion 5m NOW: @philaunion acquire Andrew Wenger from @impactmontreal in exchange for @JackMcInerney9: http://bit.ly/1mPwjPd pic.twitter.com/9AU3vuTBbL
Could someone explain to me why this makes sense for either team? I have a generally positive view of both players, so I don't understand the switch. Salary? Chemistry?
I think Montreal got the better side of it. Jack Mac should compliment Di Vaio well. Honestly, though, it feels like a bit of a "well, lets just try this then" kind of trade. Note, the last time Montreal was in that kind of trade they gave up Donovan Ricketts and got Troy Perkins in return. Ricketts went on to win (undeservedly, but whatever) Goalie of the year while Perkins grew out his hair into this nasty looking shag perm thing.
A straight up trade player for player? I didn't know the exchange rate from America to Canada had gotten that bad. Gotta feel bad for the Union fans, this seems like an annual event to trade one of your best players for nothing.
Story is 1) Union didn't think he was fitting in; 2) Wenger is a PA native; 3) McInterney was in last year of contract and rumor is he wants to go abroad so doing this they got some value. Oh but you say, there was a team option! Also, 4) Wengert is a whole lot cheaper than McInterney and Philly wanted to re-sign Amobi Okugo with the savings.
Anybody else watch that Portland/Seattle match today? Quite a ride. And not being a fan of either, it was really fun to watch. Here are the highlights.
So the Sounders are now dressing like Xboxes? That's cool... (I know I'm a little late to the game here)
