Yeah I noticed that myself. Their both inherently RB's so I guess he felt that Jenks was the lesser of evils on the left?

p.s. That shot of Emery just a moment ago, made me think someone should photoshop some fangs and he'd make a good Dracula.

Emery can't take it anymore. Here comes Kolasinac for Jenks.

Was Jenks playing badly or injured? I confess I've not been watching closely. Doing other work at same time.

Just struggling a bit on the left. As was Lichtsteiner...

Lichtsteiner just pulled up lame. Looks like a hammy. He will have to be the third sub.

That was cute. Lichsteiner tying up Smith-Rowe's shoe. "Thursday's child has learned to tie his boot lace"... maybe not.

Minutes later Stefan drops with some kind of muscle pull. We're dropping like flies now! :(

Just what we need... one less fullback!

AMN is duputized. Let's hope Nacho is close to return!!!!

If Sokratis is truly fit, I don't know why he's relegated to the cups. Maybe he hasn't trained enough Holding to form a working relationship? IDK, but he seems to be our best CB from what I can tell.

Nice shake & bake by Ainsley. Only to have Mkhi not be able to redirect the lively centering pass. Shoulda been 1-0 right there.

10 mins to go... come on!!!!

Matthieu sees red by bringing Auba down. But just outside the box... damn.

FT... finally that poor excuse for a game is over. The point will do. (Edit: AFAIK we just clinched knockout play)

We showed desire for decent stretches, but were lacking quality of execution. Lots of poorly weighted passes/crosses. And those cute, slick plays we just couldn't pull off. Ramsey & Iwobi come to mind.

Guendouzi continues to play consistently well me thinks. He's a great summer signing.

    Onward.

Was job done. Neither team wanted to lose and sporting defended well.

I was impressed with Ramsey’s discipline this game. He mostly stuck to his position and played some good passes. I know the deal is off, but maybe he’s trying to show Emery he can do the deeper role.

Bottom line was we lacked the sharpness that was needed to pry them open. It was about as lopsided stats wise as a game gets. Needed a goal to open things up, but didn’t happen.

Really bad about Danny, that might just be his arsenal career over. Or is it? No one is buying him in January that’s for sure. Not sure the club will offer him an extension under these circumstances.

Danny is worth more than his stats. From what I understand he actually adds a lot to the character of the team.

But with Reiss lighting it up in Germany well it's an untimely injury if nothing else.

Best part of this game was Duzy fouling Nani on the sideline, Nani getting upset, Duzy basically saying "the **** you wanna do then?"

I'm getting Duzy on our first adidas kit

I guess Eddie Nketiah is going to be getting more playing time. As he should.

Part of that was a season ending injury at the beginning of last season though.

    That’s the point.

    He isn’t available.

He’s not paid millions to be a team cheerleader. He’s paid to put the ball in the net. You can’t do that if you can’t get on the field....(or shoot for shit, but that’s a different matter altogether).

This summer apparently. So whoever said we may have just seen the last of Welbz in an Arsenal shirt may just be right.

Sad. Good guy. And a good 3rd striker, capable of moments of brilliance.

And if Smith-Rowe or Nketiah prove to be not quite ready for the big time, then I suppose we'll be adding to our shopping list, more likely in July rather than January I guess. And I'm also assuming a Nelson recall isn't going to perfectly replace DW either.

Maybe this is harsh, but perhaps this injury will open the door for negotiations. I’m not dannys biggest fan, but for a squaddie I’m not sure we could ask for better. Would love if he’d stay on a reasonable wage and maybe now he has lost leverage will accept that. Also, maybe Ramsey will look at his own stock and consider renegotiating or moving in January.

Good point. Hope you're right. Don't really want to see Danny go.
