Lasagna was a poor man's Iaquinta. deceptively fast for his size

If Mancini wanted italy to play purely counter attack, Lasagna makes sense. But this is a possession team

To that point, if this side is going to continue to play a possession-style game, he may as well just go with the three most talented attackers in the front three rather than try to plug in a mediocre to above average striker like Immobile or Belotti, just because that's the type of player with the most characteristics of a number nine. We have looked good at time where he has rotated Chiesa, Insigne and Bernardeschi in the attack, with one of those guys playing the false nine. Of course, the issue presently is the latter two are having issue breaking into the starting XIs at their respective clubs. That said, I would still prefer to see them than lesser players like Immobile.

Fiorentina now goes with a 3 5 2 with Chiesa and Ribery in a front two. I know some posters are clamoring for Mancini to drop 4 3 3 for that formation. While I don't completely subscribe to that tactical change, it might be worth trying in one of these two upcoming games. I think Chiesa playing closer to Belotti might work out for both of them. Worth a shot. I don't think it will happen based on the players Mancini selected.

Interesting. It is reported that the shirt is a tribute to the Renaissance as well as Italy's youth movement on the NT. Makes sense.

    Sensi out of Italy qualifiers
    By Football Italia staff

Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi is out of Italy’s Euro 2020 qualifiers with Greece and Liechtenstein after picking up an injury against Juventus.

Sensi pulled up in the first half during Inter’s 2-1 defeat to Juve in the Derby d’Italia last night.

It is so severe that the FIGC announced on Monday morning he would not join up with the Italy squad.

Instead, the 24-year-old will stay in Milan to step up his recovery ahead of the Nerazzurri’s next game against Sassuolo on October 20.

Yeah it's terrible. I appreciate the idea but the color is ugly. It doesn't contrast with the collar.

FIGC and Puma need to breakup

Jürgen Klinsmann still looks good! Bruno Conti smokes like a pack of cigs a day and was in the best of shape! Grosso still looks like he can run and Pirlo looked better on defense than I've ever seen him.

They don't make defenders like Vierchowod anymore. Not by looking at his face but the guy is a rock and at 60 still looks solid.

OMG, we need to call Pirlo, Totti, and Toni back into the national team. They still look sharp. Why don't we call those players back? If they are still sharp, I don't see why not.

Pirlo can still pass better than anyone on our current Azzurri team. but I dont think anyone could pass a ball better than him
