I like Tete and Kongolo. You can be a good tackler AND a smart player at the same time. Look at van Bommel for example. He was a thug but he was also a very smart player (and a leader)!

Also please don't bring Martins-Indi back. That guy is a disaster waiting to happen. If he learns how to think the game at a decent level then maybe because he has a nice package of skills/physical ability but otherwise keep him as far away as possible.

I'm watching the Ajax-Feyenoord A1 game right now. 1-1 at the half with a very nice goal by Nouri at the 44th minute to level the game. What we are seeing is the future of Dutch football, players operating in tight spaces and midfielders actually running to the open spaces to receive passes and then quickly making the decision about where the danger lies. Ajax are still trying too much of the traditional wide winger cross to the middle which only works if you have a tall target man. Feyenoord is defending those quite well. I don't know the Feyenoord players at all but they are very well organized both offensively and defensively. These are the two best youth programs in the country and if anyone will lift us out of the current funk these two teams are the ones to do it.

EDIT: I guess Jonk has impressed his view of how things should be done at this level; too bad FdB doesn't understand how this approach is far superior to the U-Turn merry-go-round.

Ajax A-1 came alive after the half and put four into the net to win the match 5-1.

This crop of Ajax youth in particular has had a lot of superlatives thrown their way. Hopefully at least one or two of them live up to their potentail. Nouri and van de Beek in particular seem to be big hopes.

Also I know this is the Euro thread, but how did Walian look? I remember there being high hopes for him a while back but he maybe didn't develop as planned. Is he back on track or just a lucky game for him?

I only saw the first half so I missed the four goals that were scored after that. Feyenoord had a good thirty minute spell at the start of the match but that was it and Nouri had a very nice strike from distance.

I wish I could say Oranje lost to good teams who played good football but that is simply not the case. Basically we got trashed and punished for every mistake made. Now it seems out of the blue we are a very soft team mentally and certainly poorly organized and Coached. Let's pick a noob like Jairo to play left back in crucial games that makes a lot of sense right guys?

The kid is a prospect but he is NOT a LB Danny!

Somehow KNVB must awaken from their slumber and get a real coach in place who will adjust to today's football by selecting athletic players who can play at top speed and press the opposition, instead of playing this combination of long ball from the back and lack of runners and dynamic movement up top.

Its sad that Huntelaar and Van Persie are done and thank you for your contribution, but they should never be selected again as they are too fecking slow end of story.

I would also hope that Cillessen is not selected again as he is a mental midget and not a good enough keeper for this level imo. Let him prove himself and stop some shots and perhaps save a penalty. Incredible to believe that ManU offered 25 miliion for him. If that is true the Mangement staff at Ajax should be canned for not dumping him.

Of recent selections I hope never to see Van Der Wiel, Bruma, Narsingh, or Zoet in the Orange kit again.

I have serious doubts about Blind, Martins Indi, De Vrijj, Klassen, who are all too slow.

I know many think Clasie will help, but let's be real he is too small and always hurt.

Sorry all to carry on but this really sucks

The Dutch have a great history and I just feel like this euro 16 came a generation to late for some players and a generation to early for others

What he is then ? Certainly not a CB to my eyes, not tough enough. DM ? An average one at best.

I already mentionned that but I have a problems with those players that are used as CB, LB, DM. How many are there ? Jairo, Blind, Hendrix, Viergever...
Emanuelson was playing LB, CM, LW, Anita RB, LB, DM...It's funny to see that all those players struggle to be considered great players wherever they play.

Better to concentrate on one single position and be a beast there.

  11. But then they have to pay 15 million to get Vermeer back:D

  12. Huub Stevens warns Germany about the Dutch disease not to know how to play physical and spurs discussion:

Stevens was in particular refering to the Dutch youth setup where tackling -like in the German- is pretty underrepresented. So youngsters are soft and dont know how to tackle anymore and the result is someone like Kroos. And thats dangerous when you play in such a offensive way."

Xabi Alonso once said that tackling is not a quality to aspire to. Tackling is a last resort. Positioning and reading of the game ( game intelligence) are much more important. If you are in the right position, you won't need to tackle.

    "White/Blue_since1860 said:

Well we do develop talent but as Stevens states do we have that problem too. Apart from Schweini who is going to retire soon, Khedira, Boateng and Hummels who else in our defensive unit is physical? Gündogan not, Kroos not, Kramer not, all of the fullbacks not. Rüdiger and Tah maybe in some years. I think Stevens is right about this."

    Kramer is not physical ?

Emre Can is physical. Höwedes, too. From the attacking players, Bellarabi and Volland have high work rate and are pretty aggressive and physical, from what I've seen.

Huub Stevens is way off the mark there. They have the advantage of population and money. The ability to keep skills in-house and attract new skills. They are actually doing massive (new) investments right now.

Remember the Daley Blind anecdote? Even if you do something creative and effective they're able to incorporate quickly.

Give the kid a break, he's 19 years old! Riedewald says pretty clearly that he is a CB and that's where he wants to play. He played LB for Ajax only when Dijks was out injured early in the season. He got his first match against Utrecht as a 17 year old coming in late at LB and scored two goals to win the match. He had a spell at DM but looked out of sorts there.

He made his debut against Roda JC. ;) But other than that I would agree that he is a CB. He prefers to play there, he has the most experience there and not every CB has to be tough. Frank de Boer wasn't, and neither are guys like Vertonghen and Pique.

He still has a lot to learn though.

Well, everybody can post his opinions and everybody from every country is well accepted.
But the fact about that guy is that I just don't trust in him: when i asked to show me videos for a prove of what he said about some players he couldn't find them. Also for exemple about BMI he usually posts is great in the portuguese league, but it's strange that in the matches I see him playing it's the exact contrary. So I don't trust in him.
If Netherlands NT would be managed by him it would be even worse than it is actually.

Even if you do not trust him there is no reason to attack him if you have no indication that the things he's posting aren't true. Other than that I would advice to never adopt another persons analysis of a player before you've seen the player play (regularly) yourself.

I for one really appreciate the contributions of CDPontaDelgada

Guys if Netherlands had qualified to Euro 2016 how would be your team?
I'd have gone to France with:

    1. Zoet
    2. Karsdorp
    3. te Wierik
    4. van Dijk
    5. Büttner
    6. Blind
    7. Sinkgraven
    8. van Ginkel
    9. Huntelaar
    10. Sneijder
    11. Robben

    12. Janmaat
    13. Bruma
    14. Letschert
    15. Willems
    16. de Roon
    17. Promes
    18. Pröpper
    19. Janssen
    20. Wijnaldum
    21. van Persie
    22. Cillessen
    23. Vermeer

Robben is actually injured but I think he could recover during the Euro.
Also de Vrij is injured and I left out Strootman because I didn't see much of him after the serious injury.
I excluded also Depay because he didn't have a good season at Utd.

The starting line-up would be this:

    -----------------------Huntelaar----------------------
    Sinkgraven----------Sneijder--------------Robben
    ---------------Blind-----------van Ginkel------------
    Büttner-----van Dijk-----te Wierik-----Karsdorp
    -------------------------Zoet----------------------------

I would try Sinkgraven as lest winger since it seems we don't have many good wingers at the moment and he can provide good crosses, that's why I prefered him to Promes who is faster anyway.
As main striker I choose Huntelaar beacuse for the Euro I don't think that him and van Persie were finished but I think it wouldn't change too much if Janssen started.

So on the bench the B asset would be this:

    --------------van Persie---------Janssen--------------
    Wijnaldum------------------------------------Promes
    ---------------de Roon-----------Pröpper--------------
    Willems------Letschert------Bruma------Janmaat
    ------------------------Cillessen-------------------------

Of couse many people i think won't like this team; what do you think? How would be your team?

I posted recently how BMI has been shit in the Portuguese Forums and other posters there will tell you the same. He started very strong and was starting for Porto when they were doing great in the League and in the CL.

Reason he lost form was due to his CB partner for 2 years ...faked an injury in a 1-0 loss to Arouca and got loaned to São Paulo and he had to partner with an 18 year old kid..

Here is the link about Maicon faking injury that got him thrown out of Portugal
    https://m.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/44oiea/porto_captain_maicons_brainfart_gives_walter/

... and guess what he actually didn't look that bad with a makeshift backline when they had to go play Dortmund in Germany and only lost 2-0 and 1 goals was a complete blunder from Casillas. Is it true that its form has regressed absolutely no question about it

As for my raving about Zeegelaar he has been great for Sporting and will be playing Champions League football next year.

And you know what if he was Portuguese he would be playing in the EURO 16 this year but he isn't how's that for bias

So much bias from me huh? Saying how this guy would be a starter for my NT Portugal.

His preformances have been so good SCP have transfer listed Jefferson (who was a starter for years until Zeegelaar came)

Here is a link that you oh so crave

    http://m.zerozero.pt/noticia.php?id=174444

and Zeegelaar made the Liga Nos team of the week 6 times

    4 with Rio Ave
    2 with Sporting

As far as me being biased towards Dutch players that play in Portugal that simply isn't true. I can name managers and players that absolutely bottled it here

Only ones to find success that I can think of is

    Hooijidonk
    Zeegelaar
    Vlaxx.

And you said you wanted video highlights of BMI first of all he is a defender not many people post videos of Defenders tbh

This is not the first time you called me out if you don't like what I said just ignore me why bother even quoting or mentioninh me and if you want evidence of how Dutch players are doing anywhere on planet earth you're on the internet my man just look it up

    Cheers
