They have no attackers even if they get Zaha back. Woy will more than likely park the bus and so they will be tough to break down. It took City 45 min to score against them last week so I expect it will be tough sledding for us as well. Obviously a 5-0 win would be nice but 3 points is all that matters here.
With City unlikely to go on a scoring binge against Chelsea, this is a great opportunity for us to close the gap with them on goal difference. Must. Destroy.
Sky's preview www.skysports.com/football/man-utd-vs-c-palace/preview/373162 The team I would go for would be as followed: Dave Valencia. Bailly. Smalling. AY Herrera. Matic Mata. Miki. Martial Lukaku Would have been inclined to stick with the 3 at the back setup for this one, but Palace will probably have little to offer on the offensive end and United will need as much creativity as possible themselves to counter CP's guaranteed bunkering. That's why Mata gets the nod for this one next to Miki and Martial, supporting Lukaku. Would have liked for Shaw to start this one, but going by Jose's latest comments, not sure he thinks he's ready. Hopefully, he'll have a place on the bench and can get some minutes in the second half. If somehow Valencia is not good to go, then perhaps AY can start at RB, with Shaw getting the call at LB...
Phil Jones and Marouane Fellaini have arrived with the rest of the #mufc squad at The Lowry.— Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) September 29, 2017
Shaw probably isn't ready, but this would be a great occasion for Shaw to get quality minutes in without risking a nasty surprise. With their known attacking players all out, Roy can't even hope for a draw...bunkering down to prevent a 6-0 disaster is the beat he can hope for.
The squad for tomorrow: Dave, Romero, JP, Valencia, AY, Bailly, Lindelof, Jones, Smalling, Blind, Darmian, Matic, Fellaini, McTominay, Lingard, Herrera, Mata, Miki, Martial, Rashford, Lukaku
Smash them. Whats the latest on Pogbas injury? Recent news reports that Mourinho hinted it might be more long term than initially suspected.
i am slightly skeptical about that. it seems odd that it is taking so long to accurately diagnose and determine the injury type or return date. or at least announce publicly. a small part of me wonders if this is one of those things where he magically retuns for a crucial game. i'm trying to remember which recent injury was like that without a return date announced publicly. i want to say Lingard's knee injury under van Gaal was like that but that's just purely off the top of my head. as long as he isn't rushed back
Dave, Valencia, Jones, Smalling, Young, Matic, Fellaini, Mata, Miki, Rash, Lukaku Sketchy back line and slow as dirt center midfield. Great.
Palace's XI: Hennessey, Ward, Sakho, Delaney, Van Aanholt, Townsend, Millivojevic, Cabaye, Schlupp, Puncheon, Sako
Agreed. There may be reasons to be wary of Palace -- the wounded animal theory -- but starting Fellaini over Herrera in this situation absurd.
i don't get it. has something happened behind the scenes? how has Herrera gone from #1/2 mid to number 4 or 5?
I know you asked me this previously but this is utterly bizarre. He gets garbage minutes and does well in those and is dropped immediately again. If I were Herrera, I would not sign the contract extension.
Agreed. It's one thing to lose one's place to Pogba or Matic, but to lose one's place to Fellaini is an insult. Fellaini has scored two goals, one of which was a Keystone Cop job, and had one brilliant half against Everton but apart from that has been nothing special. Herrera? He was only our best player, officially, last season.
i'm annoyed by that. José would rather risk reaggravating Fellaini's achilles a week later than give a fresh Herrera minutes. it will probably take an injury crisis to get him in. i don't know why the last two managers continue to doubt him
we're getting very close to self-fulfilling prophecy with martial: him just being on fire and scoring when he gets subbed in validates mourinho's approach of not starting him in the first place.
