Speaks volume about the job Jose has done, especially with the team mentality. Even if there is more to do on that score. Job done from the boys, who did well and worked hard for that win today.
Pogba's Game Time 04 Apr - Everton - 45 (on his return from injury) 09 Apr - Sunderland - 90 13 Apr - Anderlecht - 90 16 Apr - Chelsea - 90 20 Apr - Anderlecht - 120 23 Apr - Burnley - 90 27 Apr - Man City - ?? Mourinho is an arsehole.
Good thing the rest of our big games in the league are away then. The Theatre will be a fortress again next season. Have little doubt about that personally.
That belief also stems from the fact that whether it's luck, lack of ruthlessness from our attack, we would have had a pretty filthy record at home as well. As disappointing as this season has been on some fronts, we're very hard to beat at least again. That is my biggest takeaway from Jose's work this year. Next season, with the help of quality arrivals to shore up important positions and our starting XI as a whole, we'll take the next step, which should be making a serious challenge for major trophies.
Sure, and I have argued that very point and we saw what happened to Ibra, whose jump for the ball while fatigued resulted in a bad landing and possible career-ender. But in the case of cramps, recovery is swift. Still, I wouldn't have had a problem in the least had Pogba not played today. Like others, he clearly needs more rest. Bailly too, of course. Herrera as well. Problem is, because of fixture congestion earlier in the season, our long run in the EL and now our injury crisis, there just isn't the player bandwidth to give everyone the rest they need. All that said, our only realistic path to the CL is through the EL -- which Mourinho himself conceded in his post-match remarks. We've got Swansea at home next weekend before Celta Vigo and I hope Jose fields a side for Swansea that enables us to put in a top effort against Celta Vigo.
Swansea would be a good game to play Timmy and/or Tuanzebe. Whether it happens remains to be seen. But I just can't see how Bailly can keep playing game after game like that. He looked exhausted at the end of today's game, which puts his performance that much more in perspective today.
Not ideal. You do not want them thrown in against quality like Sigurðsson and Llorente in their areas of the pitch. That is why the Burnley game would have been idea. The only thing that would potentially be good about Swansea is them trying to play football which could make it an open game.
I would have liked bailly to get it though..... He scored one, played a big part in the other - and now, you've voted him your #MUFC Man of the Match. Nice one, @AnthonyMartial! 👏 pic.twitter.com/m2MFLU9dIy— Manchester United (@ManUtd) April 23, 2017
Jose has praised everyone on the team today for a terrific and strong collective effort. But he's singled out Pogs and Bailly for special praise as "heroes" after their efforts from Thursday and again today. Had complimentary things to say about Martial as well and claimed that when his attitude and effort are right, we see how good he can be and it's something that is well known.
good win today. people might look at it on the surface and say it's just Burnley but only Swansea, Arsenal (with that Kościelny handball goal at the death), Spurs, city and now us have taken full points off them at home where they get something like 85-90% of their points. also, i liked this. nice touch from the team if nothing else
