Did he replace Howard Webb, then?
Although another person on this board would say he favors a different team in red!

Anyone know if the referees will have new Nike uniforms for this season? I noticed during the Community Shield was wearing what appeared to be new uniforms. Will those be it?

Great to see East and West on the same match again. The assignor must have a sense of humor.
Also Andy Madley as a 4th. I wonder if we will see the Madley brothers on the same game one day.

Yes, there are new uniforms, first seen at the FA Cup final and now in the Community Shield.

The main supplier in the UK (A&H International) has had shipping difficulties however. We were told to expect shipment in early July, but apparently the kits are still sitting in the docks in Rotterdam even now. The PL/Football league guys have had to get replacement kits directly from Nike, while everyone else is still using last year's.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth - Could Mata have been offside here? Not the greatest highlight but the only one i found so far.

Would have helped if you mentioned which goal you think is in question or what made you think that he possibly was offside.

Long shot, but did anyone see the highlights of Middlesbrough - Stoke? I thought Kevin Friend misapplied advantage before Stoke's goal - he played advantage and then brought play back for a free kick. In my view the advantage had been realised, then lost. Seemed like two bites at the apple.

On the initial play (pass from teammate), Mata is onside. From that point on, he cannot commit the offside offence, as he is the only player from his team that plays the ball (shot at GK, saved, deflected off defender to Mata for the easy tap-into-the-goal).

Nope. Not even close to a red card, and probably not a second yellow. Remember this is a big league, and 'keeper made an awful play.

It's the full highlights of Chelsea v. West Ham. The tackle is about the 7:35 in the video time.

I'll premise this with its obvious who I support.
I agree 100% with the caution for DT.

But from an unbiased officiating standpoint. I think Taylor did a the right thing to not go for the 2ct. At the very least he put Diego on watch and he set him up for the next foul. The video doesn't show it but he pulls costa to the side and gives him a stern warning. Great man management bc I was not impressed with Taylor's first 10 mins initially.

    100% agree.

I was more embarrassed by Oscars embellishment in the area. If he didn't make contact with the defender I was hoping Taylor would book him for simulation.

What are you seeing that we aren't? Seems pretty clear that he went studs up into the keepers leg on the tackle.

I'm just amazed that there are people on here who are somewhat serious and knowledgeable about refereeing and the LOTG that think Costa should have stayed on the pitch. Just absurd.

    Easy red, easy second caution.

English referees letting plays like that go are why you see kung fu kicks in Finals and CR7 injured early in a Final. Players know that you get on or two free ones with English referees.

Of course it should have been at least a 2YC. Costa is a thug, and these antics need to be stopped.
Very disappointing here. This was an easy decision, a gimme, even for a match at Stamford Bridge.
