Still English. He's not declaring for china, just using a loophole in their immigration rules to go and play there without a visa.

Good for him, though I don't think he has even a remotely chance to playing for England any time in the future.

As long as he doesn't havehto give up his UK passportpto get a Chinese one I don't see why he wouldn't want to play for them internationally. He's a long way off the England team and Im sure he could get lucatrive endorsements as a star Chinese international.

It won't come down to his choice tbh.

More a cultural + political thing with China.

A non-Chinese born player may be frowned upon.
    A non-Chinese born + non-Chinese raised player will be a hard sell.
Both of those things, but also black and non-Chinese speaking, isn't something they'd do on a whim.

Will be interesting to monitor if the Chinese FA do try to get Yennaris + Browning involved.

  8. A big article in this week's Voetbal International about Edwards. He tells he's getting comfortable now at Excelsior. It took some time to adapt, a new environment, for the first time on his own etc. He's happy his dad came over and now lives with him.
His team mates are talking big about him. They understand why at Spurs he's compared to Messi. He shows things during training you can't believe, they say.

Feasting at Excelsior: 'He is of a bizarre level. What he can do is not normal '

Published: Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 9:28 AM

It is 'incredible' that Excelsior has Marcus Edwards this season. That says teammate Jeffrey Fortes in conversation with Voetbal International. Fortes finds Edwards (20) 'of bizarre level'.

Wing attacker Edwards was parked in Tottenham Hotspur in Kralingen in August. Fortes looks his eyes out. "He is of a bizarre level, what he can do is really not normal, I have not experienced a better player in my career, and Mauricio Pochettino did not make that comparison with Messi for nothing," he told VI. "He was referring to his way of moving and there is really something in. You will not get rid of him on a sidewalk tile."
(fsf: better translation: You can't get him off the ball even on a sidewalk tile space)

Fortes understands that there is pressure on Edwards' shoulders. "He is for many the hired player of Tottenham Hotspur, not Marcus Edwards, and of course it is also incredible that he is walking around here, let's face it."

This season, Edwards scored four goals and two assists in fourteen Eredivisie appearances.

Huh. I was informed by another section on this forum that he benefited from other peoples hard work and only scored tap-ins.

I was following the game on whoscored and despite Ausberg getting thrashed he had a really high rating (relative to the scoreline).

He made 2 tackles, 5 interceptions and 4 clearances. He won 6 aerial duels and had an 86% pass completion rate. It looked like he was at least doing a lot of good things in a difficult situation. Then he went and got a straight red late on! Three match ban.

  18. By the way, Crowley has a semi final against AZ Alkmaar thursday 28th at 20:45 cet again and it's the 3d encounter this season. Willem II won both but the most important will be the 3d as it means they get into the final.

Crowley chose Ireland a few days ago, so sadly he will be off-topic here. A pity, because he's skillful and talented, but from his perspective it's a sensible decision.

The funny thing is the FAI don't seem particularly bothered. Well, that's what the ITK's on the Ireland forums say anyway.

Yeah, I’ve read that too which would seem odd as I would have thought they would be quite happy with getting Crowley on board unless they have all of a sudden got cold feet about English borns with Irish heritage since they got burnt with Rice and Grealish.

Probably because he needs a season in England for them to be able to judge what level he's at i.e. is he Premier League or Championship.
