It’s another flat performance. Midfield is poor as it was the other night, no control and we don’t even look like creating much up front either.

I don’t understand how winks was left out yet Delph who has played 10 mins this year starts both games.. very puzzling. And Sancho gets half a game?

I've never seen a duller more mundane team than Switzerland. No star quality, just a defensive average team.playing against them is sending me to sleep

Rather intriguing there from Gary Neville there saying that when he was involved with England and Grealish was an option they didn’t take to kindly to Grealish wanting to have a talk with the manager to get some kind of assurances ... may explain why he’s been an outcast ever since .. seems like a very sensible thing for a player with options to do !?!?

You could say the same about us. We have been poor in both games. Certainly not near France based on these showings and still behind Spain

I agree with Gary Neville. If a player is demanding certain things to play for England then is their heart really in it? You can’t demand meetings and playing time etc

We are nowhere near good enough to win a tournament at this moment. Midfield is the worst I can remember

This has been a hard watch! Not really surprised though tbh, just has the feeling of both teams going through the motions and ready for the beach.

If you have choices though .. surely it’s understandable even wise to at least get an assurance you’re gonna get picked for squads ??

Nope. He would get picked for Ireland every time because they’re shit. If he wants to play for them then fair enough but you have to play well to get picked

Fwiw, there’s no medal ceremony or anything like that thank god. Apparently the winners of this game just get a bag of medals that gets passed around in the changing rooms.

People keep talking about how poor the midfield is but if we actually picked our best options there it wouldn't be. Been really disappointed in Southgate all round this international break. He can moan about injuries, post season fatigue or not enough young English players getting game time in the pl, but this is on him. He had much more technical, creative midfielders in the shape of Maddison, Foden, Winks or even Grealish to choose from yet continues to stick with dour, functional options like Delph and Dier. The only positive that might come from these games is that if he didn't already need a reminder that some of these players need to be replaced by our good youngsters he must now realise it. Hoping for new faces and names in September, unfortunately he seems very stubborn though so won't hold my breath.

Thoughts on Sterling’s dreadful control there as well 70th minute !?

Just had to hit that cross first time and he scores ... chose to try and control it but it bounced two metres away from him ..

You just don’t see things like that and the first half air-shot from a top , top player . Sorry

Maybe a penalty shootout would be good as practice.

    Another poor performance today

Genius, Southgate puts his best crosser of the ball in the left hand side

I tell you what, under VAR if I was a manager, I tell my players everytime you feel any kind of contact in the penalty area, just go down because VAR when slowed down and contact is seen, your very likely to get the decision. I was a VAR fan but now and not just after these VAR decisions I think it’s going to ruin the game.

Southgate has reverted back to type in these games .
But we likely have had two wins denied by VAR.
