Don't know if anyone is going to say it but rice is bossing that midfield. Like a general commanding his men. Think we've found a gem here.
No. He won't always be potent in attack but he's one of them players that will do something special and come up with the goods when you really need it.
It obviously was nerves and, as you say, he's past that. The only thing with the lad going forward is he seems to rely on his speed a lot and, as he ages, he'll also slow down. He'll be some player for the next few years, though
Henderson in a nutshell. Odoi was about to go on a run so henderson takes it off him and slows the game down
I think the one crticism you can throw at him is that he hasn't replciated his goal scoring form from Spurs for England. He's scoring one in three in the Premier League, but just three in thirty four England games. Generally he tends to play a deeper role for England, but he should be scoring more given his talents.
If you are too compete against the best you need ball playing midfielders. At the moment you don't have any but i expect in the future you will. I don't think ali and barkley are good enough in the long term.
Great ball from Barkely through to Sterling. I'm sure someone was saying he didn't have that in his game.
There is no point playing him in a deeper role . He is a frank lampard player who gets in the box and gets on the end of things . When is not scoring goals for Tottenham you wonder what he is there for. I can't see his goal scoring stats going up for England as he is played too deep. Even if he is played further forward he wouldn't offer much as you don't have an erikson in the team to feed him the ball.
Rice has done well. I doubt it's the most demanding game he'll play for England, but he's looked composed and he strikes me as a player who knows his own strengths and limitations and doesn't try to be something he's not.
Very good result in a tricky game. Thought Rice did pretty well overall, in spite of a few mistakes. Barkley my MOTM, he might not be everyone's cup of tea but he's the best option we got till Foden makes the squad. Alli disappointing again, Southgate could lose patience. Rose and Keane didn't look reliable. Rest of the team did well.
Yeah Madison, grealish etc will all be in the squad next year. All ball playing midfielders. Gives Alli some competition next year.
I think the result says a lot about Soutgate's management style. Under Hodgson or Capello, if we'd gone a goal down here we'd have spent the next fifteen minutes looking on edge and getting more and more nervy. Instead they calmly went about setting things right.
Your defense looks poor. Rose doesn't get a game for Spurs and Keane is one of the worst defenders i have seen play for England .
