The World Cup doesn't need Messi or Cristiano (besides the advertising aspect) to be entertaining with the state of their NTs. Both their teams are painful to watch and would eventually crash out. Portugal actually looks like a fairly well balanced team. Argentina has been garbage, but I wouldn't count out a team struggling to make it out SA and doing well in the WC. Argentina almost didn't make it to 86. We struggled for 2002. Uruguay finished 5th for 2010.

If this was 4 years ago, I'd give Argentina the benefit of the doubt for the WC.
