I'm starting a new thread on EJ because he's obviously not with Aris anymore.

Here's a video from the 14 July 2010 pre-season match in which he scored:

He looks like he was quite involved from those clips.

No idea he had the assist on the first goal, I thought I had read that it came from someone else. Good job EJ!

I agree I don't see how he did bad, looked involved, nice goal and assist. I guess EJ gets no love from Fulham fans even if he does do well.

Fulham are playing a few teams in Sweden next so maybe EJ will impress over there. Malmo were interested in him before and Fulham play them.

To be fair, the BBC London radio announcers calling the game yesterday were somewhat critical of EJ as well. Said he was wasteful in front of goal on a number of occasions.

we really only saw a handful of moments from EJ. There is still the rest of the match. Still, as a Fire fan, i would take a player who plays poorly but can manage 1 goal and 1 assist in a game

Eddie had a good preseason last year for Fulham. He has to be excited to have a new look with a new coach.

From the BBC radio stream I listened to of yesterdays game, he sounded pretty dreadful. For a brief summary, check the Gameday forum.

And for what it's worth, I wouldn't listen to what anyone says about EJ on the Fulham boards. They've always had it out for him.

Catch 22. If he does score its against a lower level team but if he doesn't score then it means he cant even score against a low level team.

Well let see who become the manager of Fulham and hopefully EJ can prove his worth to this team. Seems like Martin Jol might be the manager so EJ better keep working hard and never stop.

The English are just batshit crazy. From what I've seen of the game he stood out more than any other Fulham player. If he was British they'd be all over him.

If you read the Fulham boards, you will see plenty of fans that will murder Dempsey on a regular basis, despite his being their most skilled, and quite possibly best, player. Once you read that nonsense, anything they write about EJ will seem relatively justifiable.

IMHO, most of that Dempsey bashing is winding up of their American fans. I'm convinced that most of them believe that the Americans will leave them when there are no more American players there. So they treat us in a little less than hospitable way. The official board at fulhamfc is full of wind up artists who played a large part in my own moving to FOF.

Most reasonable fans appreciate what Dempsey brings to the team.

He has never been really good in a US uniform so I don't know why anyone would have a problem believing he stank it up in a epl uninform.

Sure, just scored the only US goal in the 2006 World Cup and won the bronze ball in the 2009 Confederation Cup as the 3rd best player in a tournament that included Spain and Brazil, but no, you're right he was never really good in a US uniform...

Sure Dempsey sucks - the player whose only accomplishments are being Fulham's longest active player, starting the most matches of any Fulham player, scoring the most goals of any Fulham player, and leading them in goals scored in 2 of the last 3 Premier League seasons. And he's only 27.

    Keep dreaming.

I would assume he's referring to Eddie Johnson (the subject of the thread), not CD...

I purposefully did not assume, since he did not name the player he was bashing directly after a post had been made about Clint Dempsey.

Agree, they like to wind up the Americans. Some of the American posters deserve it though - every time Demps (or in the past any other American) does something decent they're all over the forum looking f/ validation that the American is great/ played great/ whatever. Many can go a bit over the top and the Fulham fans overreact the opposite way.

I tried to find other Fulham boards, but couldn't find any that looked well "attended." What is FOF? Have a link?
