What's your favorite club? Who has the best chance of the championship? I like both teams from Iran, Perspolis and Esteghlal, although both are having problems in IPL but Asian games have their own excitement and anything can happen.
first games on march 9. ready for fight & insult severe thunder & fire storm warning on 3/12 esteghlal vs. al-hilal shimizu s-pulse vs. seongnam ilhwa stay in your room
For my fellow Iranians, Al-Hilal SUCKS big time this year. they could not even beat the Al-Najmah (bottom of saudi table with one point from Al-Hilal) .. Trust me... Al-Hilal is out.. if you want the game to watch, it would be Al-Sad Vs. Al-Ain. Al-Sad is looking in the best shape out of the four teams.
I think the original poster is confused or doesn't understand the subtleties. He/she seems to be talking about the Asian Champions League (ACL), since he/she talked about "clubs." ACL is like UEFA CL, tries to determine best club in Asia. This is the first ever ACL. Asian Cup is older and is like European Champ., which determines which is the best national team in Asia.
Yes, I meant Asian Champions League. The first to be held and it will be an all Iranian Championship between Perspolise and Esteghlal.
Not entirely. I guess well find out the first day AlSadd plays a game... Officials from AlAin (who initially filed the complaint, even though they have a similar situation with their new signing of Suker... ) say that he cant play due to ACL rules and the officials of EsEs and Hilal are following this so as to eliminate AlSadd from getting a strong force up front (natrually). On the other hand AlSadd officials claim that he is indeed eligible to play in the ACL. I have a huge feeling that this is going to go to FIFA as a result of AFC not being able to handle important situations like this (as is usually the case).
for east asia, group b, for west group c looks tougher than the other. http://www.asian-football.com/acl/0203/index.html
I hope Al Sadd resolves their rpoblem with Romario. he would be good for Asian football. So Iranian striker, Perspolis or Esteghlal?
I am a little confused, I was reading on the AFC champions league website that their will be host regions, and that the groups will play all of their matches there. Is this true? or am I confused, I thought they would be playing home and away, like UEFA champions league does........... (EDIT) - sorry answered my own question, and now for my predictions: my predictions for 03/09 Shimizu S-Pulse 1 - 1 Dailan Shade Seongnam Chunma 3 - 1 Osotspa Nisa 1 - 2 Pakhtakor Al Talaba 0 - 1 Pirouzi Al Sadd 0 - 2 Esteghlal Al Ain 1 - 1 Al Hilal (Metsu Magic will help the hosts salvage a tie) and for 03/10 Shanghai Shenhua 0 - 0 Taejon Citizen Kashima Antlers 1 - 0 BEC Tero (The Antlers will summon the evil demons they have sold their souls to, to win against the hosts.) Ok, anyone else wanna take a stab at the first two days predictions? And don't we all wish Jubilo were in this so they could lose all their matches, and everyone could watch me break down and cry!
The next round made up of 4 teams will be played on 2 legged tournaments, this round is a single game, round robin and only one team from each group advances. btw, I like your predictions. Which East Asian teams are considered to be the favorites?
I don't know enough about the East at club level and I see some new teams, so I can't have an opinion on the east side. But the west side will probably be both Iranian teams. what do ya think?
perspolise will proceed to the next round. i have no idea about turkmenistan, uzbek and iraqi teams. i don't know about group c yet. the saudi guy says al hilali is not good right now so probably es-es will win it.
