Klaassen captained Werder in the Cup match on Wednesday and was the penalty taker which he converted. Amazing how his play has improved since leaving England. IMO more players should consider a move to Germany but of course the money is probably greater in the EPL.

  2. Grab the money in England and then run to Germany:D

    Orange14 repped this.
  3. Timothy Fosu-Mensah scores own goal, gets a yellow and is subbed in a loss against Terence Kongolo and drops to the last spot in the table.

What's going on with Kluivert at Roma?

Not much; he mostly comes off the bench as a substitute.

Competition is very high on the wings for Roma.under, El Shaarway, pellegrini, perotti ( injured), florenzi , zaniolo, Kluivert, Schick all have been rotated on the wings.

None are consistent in front of goal.

Kluivert would obviously benefit for more playing time.
    Should have stayed at Ajax.
Dumb move and we've seen our young talents suffer this often.

Kluivert is starting today.. hopefully he impresses. In terms of competition, I read Turkish winger Cengiz Under is very good and highly scouted. He is prized north of 50M, or something crazy like that. Like Kluivert, he’s 21 years old.

Aké wasnot good, again I would say.
    Voetbal International comment:
Negatieve rol Aké bij nederlaag Bournemouth
"Newcastle United - AFC Bournemouth 2-1
    "

From the highlights I saw of Liverpool Virgil van Dijk didnot look so good either and Wijnaldum, ???was he on the pitch??

De Ligt made an error that did lead to an Excelsior goal, but worse was that Excelsior got 4 more chances to score only not leading to a goal by not aiming very well or because Onana was in the way.

In short, this kind of sloppy performance isnot what we need against France from our defenders.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Justin Kluivert, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Cutrone and Vinicius Junior are the names in contention for the 2018 Golden Boy award, with holder Kylian Mbappe out of the running.

Roma's Kluivert, Ajax's De Ligt, Liverpool's Alexander-Arnold, AC Milan's Cutrone and Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior will find out who wins on Dec. 17.

The award, first won by Rafael van der Vaart in 2003, followed by Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi, is organised by Italian newspaper Tuttosport and presented to the outstanding youngster over the course of the year.

A different player has picked up the prize every time and, while there was no rule preventing Mbappe from winning it again, he is expected to be a top three candidate for the Ballon d'Or and will not be considered by the Golden Boy jury of journalists.

"The philosophy is to launch one new face each year," Massimo Franchi, who oversees the award, told ESPN FC.

  11. I already predicted weeks ago in the C. Pulisic thread de Ligt would put Mbappe out of the contest in the NL match and win it.
I really can't see any of the remaining contenders being up to the impact de Ligt has in matches.

    Oh dear, oh dear.
Aké is the left central defender, but when the 2nd Arsenal goal is built upand scored he's sofar away from the centre of the defense/Aubameyang that in the built up he never was going to be closing the gap to be a threat to Aubameyang.
He doesnot check out where opponents are. Several times there were Ardenal players behind him that could become a threat he would have been unable to neutralize. He's a tactical moron.

Kongolo on the other hand had an excellent game with huddersfield.

Just look at the upper corner where Aké is way out of sight.
He's a cd, but look where he is running back. It tells you that he's far out of position from where he's coming.
Knowing that Arsenal has a leathal strikers set the one thing you should do as a cd is to be in a cd position.

  14. Koeman, are you noticing he's a tactical moron?

Depay missed a penalty, but he also got an assist in a 2-2 draw

Van Dijk played his part with an incredible (errr… ;)) volley that led to Liverpool's winning goal in a derby against Everton today, in the dying minutes no less! Simply astonishing sequence to close the game.

Yes, it was amazing and a collegial mistake by Pickford, the England keeper. All he had to do was push the ball over the crossbar

Not good how he defended on the second goal. Retreating with too much distance between him and Salah. That's an open invitation to get a shot.

    Nathan Ake 4/10

Picked up an early booking for deliberate handball to block a dangerous pass, but did pick some good moments to step out and try and end quick Liverpool breaks. Generally found himself overrun and struggled to recover whenever Salah was fed in behind his back four.

    Virgil Van Dijk 7/10

Another error-free showing from the Dutchman, who continues to prove why he is one of the most highly-rated central defenders in the Premier League. Comfortable in possession, strong in the air and was not worried at any point of the afternoon.

    Georginio Wijnaldum 7/10

Another solid performance helped to established that Wijnaldum-Fabinho-Keita appears to be Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice midfield moving forwards in big, competitive games. Had a chance to grab himself a goal from a Robertson cross, but the Dutchman could only direct a header wide.

I see it the goal is more on Salah's brilliance than Ake's shortcoming... Salah is one of the best in carrying the ball forward speedily and getting a shot on target, I don't think any defender would have other options (without fouling).

More concerning to me (as far as Ake concerns) is the first goal. His complete lack of awareness and reaction on the rebound was pretty bad. Yes, the correct call might (should) have been offside, but as the primary defender, you could not lose your maker, and simply stand/ball-watching.

  24. I donot agree. Many defenders funny enough do exactly the opposite of goal keepers. Goalies come out as fast as they can to come as close to the striker possible in order to a) making the angles available to shoot smaller and b) to be able to intercept a shot better. Aké did exactly the opposite, giving wider angles and being too far to be able to have a chance to block the shot.

Your concern in the second part is exactly what I've been complaining about for a long time now.
Bruma had the same issues, so it could be a Chelsea flaw.
