So Livingston haven't pushed the boat out, financially, in an attempt to succeed on the pitch, whilst creditors were shafted? What is Livi's debt now and what was it when they were demoted to the 3rd?
1. Livingston got well and truly shafted by bitter rival clubs. Dundee did not. 2. Our debt has increased because of the obscene punishment. We honoured our contracts (which were at First Division level and based on operating in that division).
Honoured contracts at 1st division level, as well as signing new players who undoubtedly helped in winning the 2nd division and will not be on small (by 2nd division standards) wages. I'm not necessarily knocking it, just think it's a bit hypocritical to have a go at Dundee for the same thing.
If Dundee had gotten the same punishment for going into administration that Livi got. We'd have won the 1st Division. There was no punishment for Livi going into Admin. It was in inability to provide some sort of assurance that Livi coulld fulfill thier fixtures is what got them the drop. By the time Dundee got before the SFL committee it was clear at the rate of fundraising Dundee would be able to finish thier fixures.. It's not Dundee's fault Livi have don't the support to raise the amount of cash that the Dees have been able to. How many full time players have Livi had on the books the last 2 years compared to the rest of the 3rd and 2nd divisions ? If Dundee had been docked 10-15 points I really wouldn't have complained as that's the range that is consistant with the rest of Britian.
What a load of shite. Livingston had a bond in place for the season but were refused. Dundee was not even asked for one. The SFL specially told our owners they had to honour contracts or resign the position in the league. After receiving those assurances the SFL dumped us into the Third Division the very next day regardless. Bitter rival clubs simply cannot complain about our full time status as we are a full time club, with contracted players who were days away from starting a First Division campaign. The fact that we not only honoured our contracts and remained in business but swept these same bitter clubs aside with consecutive promotions is a credit to the club and those who run it. The rest of the SFL shot themselves in the foot. Rival clubs tried to force the club out of existence so there is little wonder there is such bitterness in the face of our continued success.
