The Doop Song really got lost in the mix.... I heard it and sang it.... but people were still cheering and celebrating the goals while it was being sung, so the full effect never took hold....
I am happy to report that I successful taught my 2 year old son this song after the game. My wife has no idea what is going on when he sings it now.
The most ridiculous thing to me was after the win, back at McFadden's, we asked the DJ to spin it. He put it on and many Union fans followed our DOOPing lead. Man, who'd of thunk it? A post game Union celebration.
When we get to PPL are we going to have input on what goes over the PA speakers--play it a few time there and everyone in the stadium will catch on. Hopefully they won't play the same crap pre-game music that the Linc had on Saturday--was drowning out the pregame chants/songs.
Good point. I didn't hear the pre-game music because of the VP, but we should be working with the Director of Communications or whatever Union official so that it doesn't overpower our songs/chants. Keep it organic.
Yeah the DOOP song over the speakers at mcfaddens was fun, although they tried it with 4 leaf clover and it didn't really work. I'm definitely in favor of DOOP over the stadium speakers, as long as that's the only thing they play. And they only use it before/after the match and after goals.
Can we get a song for Torres? we can model it on the Fernando Torres song? His armband proved he was Union, Torres, Torres. We'll always beat DC it says, Torres Torres...etc?
Even though it's intended as a goal celebration song, I wouldn't mind hearing it tried a few times during the run of play next game... people seemed to pick up on it pretty quickly around the stadium. The more people that hear it the better.
might just be me, but the couple times I heard it (wasn't sitting with you guys at the game, so I only heard it in passing a few times pre-game) the guys doing it were doing it as if they couldn't get it out fast enough... it really needed to be slowed down; maybe not all the way to the tempo of the original song, but they were doing it so quick that the melody of it was lost
Not sure if this was suggested as I am not trying to rip off anyones idea, but why not make Doop a call/response. Captains with the megaphones start it off, everyone else reponses. It would be pretty cool, and control on when to sing it.
This sounded awesome today. Everybody in the stadium definitely got into it. I hope we hear this song about 50 more times this year
I hope it catches on too, and we hear it many many more times, but should we maybe wait to sing at the start of the kickoff after the goal??? It just seemed like everyone wanted to scream when they were playing the song, perhaps it should be played a bit later.
On a somewhat related topic, does anyone know the name of the song that was playing after the final whistle? also, I thought Doop Doop Doop sounded great considering it was everyone's first crack at it. As long as the team keeps scoring, we'll all be able to keep practicing.
they played galvanize by the chemical brothers after the whistle, not sure if that's the one you're referring to
This: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdOCWUgwiWs"]YouTube- Strawbs - Part of the union 1973[/ame]
thanks for the link yes, this is the one I was referring too. We need this song after every game, or ever better... when the teams are walking onto the field. Although the songs do not sound alike, I think it creates the same vibe that the Z cars song does for Everton
I'm ok with the porn stache and the aviators, but the only afro I'll ever wear will have to be a wig. the strawbs tune is cool though. It sorta has that Gmajor, Dmajor celtic vibe going on.
whoever suggested slowing the Doop down has my vote. if you were dooping in bed that fast with a chick, you would've been doop doop done in a flash.
I couldn't even hear it in the River End. It sounded cool on the highlights tho. Glad they played that over the PA.
That's the truly funny thing. I couldn't hear it either, but it was noticible on the highlights, as you said. This is what the RBNY assholes are trying to say was our "pumped in crowd music." I wish those assholes would all die in a fire.
MLS has an anthem for when the teams enter the field. I couldn't tell you what it sounds like, but it's been played at every single match for about 4 years now.
