Really going to Leon wasn't a great choice for a guy 18 months without playing: the team's stadium is at great altitude, and Leon is neither good enough to risk playing Donovan more than for cameos, nor so weak they may use him in despair. Also, it seems he was more a signing by Grupo Pachuca than a guy the Leon manager, Chavo Diaz, wanted. It's never a good situation when the coach is not interested in you.
At the same time, does it really matter? I mean, what's his real motivation here? Maybe he's cool with cameos. I have no idea... just wondering.
Don't want to get into it, not going to get into it, but yes, it is what he said. His first words were "no, it didn't happen, not the way they portray that it happened." Then he went on to explain.
He def got them a lot of PR and probably sold a few hundred jerseys. And he isn't too expensive wage wise I would imagine.
When you need a product I tend to go for experienced professionals. Donovan going to USSF shows he is a shrewd judge of skill.
Donovan on in the ‘60th in a now 2-1 game in Copa MX. He came on at 2-0. Anyone streaming/following? It’s not televised.
Now it’s 3-1. Donovan did not score and not sure if he was a part of the tally. Just nice to see him get a solid 30 minutes in.
I saw on twitter feed his first touch, 16 seconds into the game, was a near golazo from 25 yards out. Just missed wide. That was from twitter, so who knows how accurate the description.
He's the closest we've got to an American legend. I'm glad he's playing again, gaining fitness at elevation. He'll be starting here in there in a month, I feel it.
Soccer is a business, did they need LD...nope, but how about making some money and if he can help a little on the field even better.
The Hidalgo booed him. Lol Not much to say on performance. He played a decent chunk of the second half and did nothing just like the rest of his team. Kinda pathetic to see the MX media milk this signing with the “he’s not having the impact he should” type nonsense. Who actually expected him to have an impact.
You're an ass. First of all, your link doesn't answer the question. Did the entire state of Hidalgo boo him? For people who follow Mexican soccer "The Hidalgo" means something specific. I'm asking him what he meant to learn a little about it. It's an honest question that deserves a response that doesn't come from google. It took more effort to post your bullshit than it would have to actually answer the question.
Kid should've been playing in that league for his whole career. It would have been the perfect solution for his issues. Close to home, speaks the language, his skill set suited the league. He looks pretty comfortable already, even at his age and fitness.
