That's because before Sammer's arrival, the players DID PERFORM!

Once a team's spirit is broken, it's hard to get it back. Just look at BVB.......

I think Trap is history. When the club officers give you an ultimatum, especially one with a time attached (3 weeks, according to Kicker), they are essentially saying: "Let's see if the players support the coach. If the playing does not improve, then the players are not behind the coach, and he must go."

I would not be surprised if there will be no improvement to speak of, because the players look lost, and frustrated - I think they have lost confidence in Trap, if they ever had it.

3 weeks is a reasonable time to see if things change - IMO, in November we'll have a new coach.

But it seems that Sammer got at least something out of the players.
Who would you replace Trap with?

He was assistant coach for one season under Magath and then under Sammer. He isn't it anymore though as he left just before Sammer was dismissed. I don't think Balakov would accept to coach us though as he has such good relations with the whole club and the fans love him and therefore i don't think he'd isk himself at such a precious time.

I don't profess to know more than you on VfB Stuttgart, but I think that's exactly why they would ask Balakov to return and why Balakov would not ignore the club in it's hour of need..........

I dunno, before the Bayern game on the last day last season, there was a 5 minute tribute to Krassimir after having been with us in some role or another for around a decade. It was an official goodbye, so that suggests to me that he won't return. I'd be happy if he does though :)

Since when does an "offical goodbye" mean a person will never return? I know I'm pushing for the day we bring Juergen Kohler back to BVB in some capacity.

Well, i hope your right. IMO, we'll see in a few weeks. Hopefully not, though.

Balakov is playing some role at VFC Plauen, in the Oberliga NOFV-Sued. I think he is player-manager there - not sure exactly what role he has.

How about Karl-Heinz Foerster? He is at Hoffenheim, which is close to Stuttgart.

In my opinion we need someone with more experience than a third league coach. Balakov i'd be satisfied with, Foerster i wouldn't. i heard Hitzfeld wants a job again ;)

But lets be serious, we still have Trap. lets just hope they improve and we don't need to go change coach.

Yeah, i think your right. When were they last in the Premiership? 2002 if my memory is correct? Or was it before?

You are correct. And let's not talk about City in the Premiership; I'll be happy just to stay in the Championship. For anyone familiar with Coventry managers of the last few years, as long as VfB don't hire Gordon Strachan, I'll be happy :D

10 minutes to match-time! I'll be watching on ZDF and hopefully Jon Dahl's presence will inspire the team to a win and three points. That would be really tough, i'll be satisfied with a point.

    Auswaertssieg!

We aren't playing well, but we're still the better team. The only really big chance fell to Tomasson who uncharacteristically didn't manage to put it in. Besides that, Gronkjaer forced two good saves out of the 20 year old Rennes keeper(who is playing his first profi match!), and that's about it.

Both teams are not really dangerous. Hitzslperger makes some bad really decisions with the ball.

Hitzlsperger is better than usual to be honest.

Carevic in, maybe he's our luck-bringer!

Wow! So I take it he's not been Stuttgart's best player this season so far?
That was close. Rennes is getting better.
