Augsburg are through to the round of 16. They may even make the quarters, depending on the draw.

These days, I think Borussia Dortmund "sells" also like hotcakes.

Both Klopp and Götze are everyone's darlings.

My guess is that Götze's the most popular footballer in Germany, right now. Plays a sublime game, good looks and manners, the ideal son-in-law. He's got the complete package.

And Klopp could well be the most popular German around. Or would that be Günter Jauch? Anyway, he's way up there.

Anyway, the Dortmund vs. Dresden pairing was very attractive. Let's not forget that Dresden is a club with a considerable following as well. Arguably the biggest name in East German football.

I certainly wanted to see that match live, yesterday. ZDF chose the right one.

    Don't get the complaints.

I'm with you here. Not just because I'm a BVB fan, but I agree that "Borussia Dortmund" is the "flavor of the moment" right now.

But I also honestly believe BVB-Dresden had the potential to be the best match of the day.

    What a fall.

Not long ago, this kid was considered by many to be the top young goalkeeper in Germany after Manuel Neuer.

He believes his own press. Not only has he not gotten any better, he's an a$$hole on top of it......

    Remind me what he did.

How come he ended up at such a lower-division club?

Fromlowitz hasn't done anything specific that I remember.

This kid got full of himself early and has pranced around like "king peacock" ever since.

He's immensely talented, but won't work on his craft. He thinks he's already great.

He reminds me of a pre-Hannover Robert Enke.

Enke had the exact same problem. But he went abroad, got his head pulled out of his ass and became a great keeper.

Hopefully, Fromlowitz can do the same, but he doesn't show any signs of it........

I think the title of the Kicker article about the Kiel - Duisburg match says everything: "Zwei Storcheneier für Fromlowitz"

    Gimme's for Dortmund and Bayern.

Augsurg, Hamburg, and M'gladbach get the short end of the stick, with some tough opposition. At least these will make for some interesting games.

I wouldn't underestimate Fortuna Duesseldorf. They are on 1st place in the second division and are unbeaten since their last 22 games, as well as in their last 21 home games! It's not gonna be a stroll in the park for Dortmund. I'm really looking forward to watch that match! :)

    Totally agree with these comments.

If I'm not mistaken, Kickers Offenbach knocked us out of the German Cup last season.

This will be a tough match for us. I think we'll win, but it will not be easy in any way.

I would never assume BVB is going to win this this one. I'd never call it a "gimme."

Yea. They have been quite fantastic this season, haven't they? Even better, they are playing at home and their record there is just incredible. Should be a great game, probably the most exciting of the round.

Can't they instead ban whole fan groups? Seems to me that'd be a more targeted and hence fairer punishment.

How about simply banning the Ultras for the next DFB season?

Or make it a school & family thing exclusively? Isn't that what the Turkish FA has recently done in similar instances? Perhaps we could take a page outa their playbook.

I'm curious how the club would handle that and their fans if that were to happen. Maybe it's time they finally step up to their own supporters.

They did when they announced they would give all the away tickets back to the home club for their next match in ST Pauli.

Well, the supporters always blame the police in part. That doesn't exactly suggest they've really got the right message.

The DFB obviously wants to make an example out of this. They'll probably still hand out stadium bans on top of this, for individuals. Once thing is for sure - this would send a pretty strong message - games behind closed doors etc. don't have that much of an impact in the long run, but not playing at all? Outside of forced relegation, that's pretty much the biggest possible punishment.
