I wouldn't necessarily lobby for Valeri in particular, but I am definitely interested in an aging 10 to split time with a younger prospect.
I was initially excited when I heard people talking about him coming here, but then I looked at his age. He'll be 34 on May 1st. I like his game and I like him as a player, but taking him would be such a 2015 DCU thing to do, which is why I think it would happen. I'd cheer for him, but I think we need to be building a team, not cobbling one together that lasts for a season or two. I also think the overall talent level in Portland is higher than it's likely to be here in DC combined with playing in a system favorable to his skills and athleticism like Portland's, I am not sure he'd be nearly as good here as we expect. It's not like we're only a #10 away from being an MLS Cup contender right now.
United have completed the permanent transfer for Hamid. They also have signed him to a 3-year deal using TAM.
Transfer fee for Hamid is $750K. With the rumors that Hamid may be made the highest paid keeper in MLS, it's no wonder this is a TAM deal.
Morrissey? Or Mojo? Possibly the lowest-budget video of all-time, even moreso than the Replacements' Bastards Of Young.

We are supposedly interested in Joao Plata https://www.blackandredunited.com/ dc-united-transfers/2019/12/9/21003116/dc-united-joao-plata-mls-transfer-rumors-real-salt-lake-ecuador Never been much of a fan. It felt like he couldn't ever close the deal.
True story: Mojo once signed an autograph for me. He said "What's your name". And he wrote "to Jim the pig********er, Mojo Nixon" One of the guys in his band grabbed it and wrote "Jim, where's my sex goat?" Also when he performed at Wolf Trap, opening for the Pogues and Violent Femmes he dedicated his song to Barbara Bush", She put the Louisiana liplock on my love porkchop".
He certainly hasn't been bad by any means; but he hasn't been great, either. I wouldn't have picked him at his best over Lucho at his best. He started two matches for RSL last season. Benny's gonna give him the keys to the offense, isn't he?
Cool. I had a conversation with him once when we were peeing at adjacent wall urinals. He's a funny guy. Yeah, that's on Root Hog or Die.
