Rams Owner Planning L.A. Stadium - ESPN
    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nfl/...-rams-owner-planning-stadium-site-los-angeles
LOS ANGELES -- The St. Louis Rams could be headed back home to Los Angeles as early as 2016. A year after purchasing 60 acres of land in Inglewood adjacent to the Forum and Hollywood Park, Rams owner Stan Kroenke has teamed up with the owners of the Hollywood Park site to build an NFL stadium, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

Stockbridge Capital Group, which owns the 238-acre Hollywood Park site, already had plans for a mixed-use community on the land that formerly housed the famed thoroughbred racing track which closed last year. Those plans will now include an 80,000-seat stadium and a 6,000-seat performance venue, the companies told the newspaper.

The Rams are expected to convert their lease at St. Louis' Edward Jones Dome to a year-to-year agreement later this month and, if the team and the city fail to come to an agreement to build a new stadium, the Rams could move back to the area it called home from 1946 to 1994.

Chargers, Raiders Will Jointly Pursue Stadium In Carson - L.A. Times
    http://www.latimes.com/sports/nfl/la-sp-nfl-stadium-20150220-story.html#page=1
LOS ANGELES -- On the field, the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders have had as bitter a rivalry as any in the NFL but in a sense, they’re now partners. The teams will officially announce Friday that, while they work on stadium deals in their current cities, they will jointly pursue a shared $1.7-billion NFL stadium in Carson as an alternative.

The Chargers and Raiders will continue to seek public subsidies for new stadiums in their home markets, but they are developing a detailed proposal for a privately financed Los Angeles venue in the event they can't get deals done in San Diego and Oakland by the end of this year, according to the teams.

This latest high-stakes move was precipitated by St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke, who announced in January his plan to build an 80,000-seat stadium on the land that used to be Hollywood Park. That put pressure on the Chargers, who say 25% of their fan base is in Los Angeles and Orange counties. The Raiders, among the most financially strapped NFL teams, joined forces with the Chargers because they don't have the money build a stadium on their own.

This is crazy. Not keeping the logos, colors and name in the cities they were in at the time of the merger* was the worst idea evah. I don't know how this could have been worked out, but someone earning more money than I do should have figured out a way to compensate owners who wanted to move their teams so that the fans could maintain their affiliation with the same team in the same city for life. When The Business Organization Formerly Known As The Colts left Baltimore, they should have left behind the name, the blue and white and the horseshoe. Same with the Rams leaving LA, the Cardinals leaving St. Louis and the Oilers leaving Houston. Only Modell and the city of Cleveland got this shit right. I get that the owners will say, perhaps correctly, that they're the ones whose work made the logo/name/colors meaningful to so many, but maybe that's where the compensation can come in. Other than the Washington nickname, there's really nothing in the NFL uglier than looking at a website or newspaper and seeing the nickname "Texans" associated with Houston's NFL franchise (which should still be the Oilers), "Rams" associated with St. Louis' franchise, "Ravens" associated with Baltimore's franchise and a bunch of so-called fans who are too distantly green or too recently removed from the womb to know any better thinking it's all good.

Raider should stay in Oakland keep the Norcal rivarly fresh. The Chargers are SD team much more then the Padres. The Rams are the prefect team to go back to LA. STL never really embraced them or care about them never should have left LA.

Inglewood Approves Fast-Tracking NFL Stadium Plans - ESPN
    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nfl/...ast-tracking-st-louis-rams-backed-nfl-stadium
INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- The Inglewood City Council late Tuesday night approved plans to build a football stadium that includes St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke as a partner, clearing a path for a return to the Los Angeles area of the NFL for the first time in two decades.

The vote adopts a new redevelopment plan adding a 80,000 seat, 60-acre stadium to an existing 2009 plan to redevelop the former Hollywood Park racetrack site with homes, offices, stores, parks and open space and a hotel.

The council approved the $2 billion plan with a 5-0 vote after a meeting with several hours of public comment and many vocal Rams fans wearing jerseys in attendance. With only a small handful of dissenters, most of the commenters exuberantly supported the move. They would like construction to start by year's end to have a venue ready for the 2018 football season.

New urgency for Inglewood came to the issue last week with the announcement that the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers are planning a shared stadium in suburban Carson if they don't get their current hometowns to cough up enough money to replace their aging stadiums. Another stadium plan remains alive for downtown Los Angeles, but has no team attached.

No thanks. That damn oil derrick is a symbol of the half century pain of no pro football championships in Houston. Not only that, the pathetic pep rally we held in the aftermath of the 79' championship game when your Steelers beat them on the way to a 4th ring. Trash it. Please.

From 1933 to 1971, the Steelers (sometimes under a different name) played in one (1, un, uno) postseason game, and lost that one game. You guys, OTOH, won the very first AFL championship. You have Earl Campbell, Dan Pastorini, Elvin Bethea, Billy "White Shoes" Johnson and Warren Moon, among others. And losing to the greatest franchise of the SB era is nothing whatsoever to be ashamed of.

The Cleveland Browns haven't ever been to a Super Bowl, for all their pre-merger history. That doesn't mean they're unworthy of existing.

First two back-to back. It's been almost 55 years since then though. :(

Mike Munchak included. But other than players, blech. Hopefully Andre can keep going about 2 more years.

    Los Angeles Stadium Proposal Advances
    - ESPN
    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nfl/...chargers-raiders-stadium-los-angeles-advances
LOS ANGELES -- Organizers behind a proposed stadium near Los Angeles that could become home for the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders announced Saturday that they reached an important, early benchmark on the path to construction.

A coalition of supporters, including labor unions, has collected over 14,000 petition signatures in the city of Carson, nearly twice the number needed to place the stadium plan before local voters. The Raiders and Chargers are planning a shared stadium in Carson, south of Los Angeles, if both teams fail to get new stadiums in their current hometowns.

It's one of two prominent stadium proposals that have emerged in the Los Angeles area this year. St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is part of a development group planning to build an 80,000-seat stadium in Inglewood, roughly 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

NFL Wants Players To Pay For Los Angeles Stadium - Bloomberg
    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-09-25/nfl-wants-players-to-pay-for-los-angeles-stadium
The National Football League is asking its players to help finance any new stadium in Los Angeles, a prerequisite to putting a team in the No. 2 U.S. media market for the first time since the Raiders and Rams bolted in 1994.

The NFL players union, which confirmed the talks, typically assumes some of the cost of stadium financing through what are called stadium credits, negotiated in the collective bargaining agreement. However, team owners have exhausted the credits approved in the existing contract, which runs through 2020. Any additional money from players -- as for a proposed stadium in L.A. -- must be approved on a one-off basis.

Both the NFL and the city are eager to bring a team back to Los Angeles. Officials in Carson, Calif., about 17 miles south of downtown Los Angeles, approved a $1.65 billion stadium project earlier this year to lure the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders.

As Carson courts those two teams, Inglewood, a city about 13 miles to the northwest, is wooing the Rams, who are owned by billionaire Stan Kroenke. He bought the team in 2010 for about $750 million, and has bought land for an 80,000-seat stadium, the plans for which were approved by the Inglewood city council.

Oakland, San Diego, St. Louis Argue To Keep Teams - ESPN
    http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...gh-spirited-arguments-keep-teams-nfl-meetings
NEW YORK (AP) -- The three NFL cities in line to potentially lose their NFL teams to Los Angeles made thorough and impassioned presentations to the league Wednesday as a step toward keeping them. Officials from Oakland, San Diego and St. Louis spoke to the league's Los Angeles, stadium and finance committees, all three of which play some role in a potential relocation. Oakland spoke first and was followed by San Diego and then St. Louis.

The Raiders and Chargers have combined on a project in Carson, California, that would cost about $1.78 billion if approved by three-fourths of the 32 owners. Rams owner Stan Kroenke is pushing a rival project in nearby Inglewood.

The league has set a special meeting in Dallas on Dec. 2 at which substantial steps could come, including moving up from January the deadline for application to relocate. A vote by March would be almost a necessity for Los Angeles to have a franchise or two playing there in 2016.

NFL Teams Jockey To Cash In On Los Angeles - CNN
    http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/05/news/companies/nfl-los-angeles-move/

The Los Angeles area hasn't had a team to call its own since 1995. But three different teams submitted applications to the league this week seeking permission to move there: The San Diego Chargers, the Oakland Raiders and the St. Louis Rams. All are betting that they can make more money there than in their current markets.

Any team that makes the move will boost its revenue by hundreds of millions a year. They'll do that with the help of luxurious new stadiums outfitted with features aimed at LA's more affluent audience. The Chargers and Raiders have come together on a plan to build a $1.7 billion stadium in Carson, while the Rams want to put up a $1.9 billion stadium that would anchor an entertainment, retail and residential complex in Inglewood.

Because of the money involved, the cities that stand to lose their teams aren't going down without a fight. St. Louis, to try to keep the Rams, has proposed a $1.1 billion stadium and offered the team more than $300 million in tax dollars. San Diego has offered a similar stadium deal to the Chargers.

The owners have a strong incentive to approve one of these plans. A vote could come as soon as league meetings scheduled for January 12-13.

I'd like to see the Rams return to LA. The Raiders (who went to LA years ago, won a Super Bowl and returned to Oakland) and Chargers can stay where they are.

If I lived in San Diego I might never leave town. Beautiful city, at least the parts I saw in August 2005.

First round of voting at the NFL owners meeting in Houston is completed.
Rams + another team in Inglewood received more votes than Raiders/Chargers in Carson.
But it didn't receive the 24 votes required to pass. Not yet, anyway.
Rams + Chargers in Inglewood has been gaining traction since being proposed by Jerry Jones on Sunday.
The Raiders would supposedly receive a small chunk of the $110 million relocation fees to help build a new stadium in Oakland if the Rams and Chargers move to LA.

First round voting was 20-12 in favor of "Rams + TBD (to be determined) in Inglewood", four votes shy of passing.
"TBD" is used so as not to violate the Chargers/Raiders partnering agreement in Carson.

Something to consider: If Rams/TBD wins, how to add a second team without violating the Carson agreement?
The LA committee, which is behind the Carson project, is said to be currently meeting with Chargers and Raiders owners Dean Spanos and Mark Davis.

    CONFIRMED:
The Raiders have withdrawn from the "exclusive partnership" with the Chargers. They'll be compensated for stepping aside. (possibly $500 million towards new stadium)

    Owners voting on new proposal:
Rams to Inglewood with the Chargers given opportunity to join them.

Inglewood stadium wouldn't open until 2019, one year later than originally planned.
Until then, Rams to likely play at the LA Coliseum.
Chargers home unknown, Coliseum has yet to approve two teams.

    Something to consider:
San Diego will vote in June on funding for a new stadium. Would the vote be helped knowing the Chargers are free to move?
Would the Chargers stay if the vote passed?

Bottom line : My Raiders are staying home!
Ice Cube can go eff himself.
