realist - a person who accepts a situation as it is and is prepared to deal with it accordingly. pessimistic - tending to see the worst aspect of things or believe that the worst will happen. how do those two definitions go against each other? I accept that the worst will happen with the players in question.
We are done discussing and critiquing each other’s fandom. Every point is valid except yours. Yours isn’t. Hahahahahaha. Okay Done. Move on - talk about what you want and leave others fandom out of it. You want to be positive and exuberant- great, just add substance to the discussion. You want to be negative, realistic, pessimistic or nihilistic- the same applies. James
Asad has joined the team in Florida. Will be interesting to see if he gets any minutes in tomorrow's game.
Also kind of a weird question, but Fisher wore 91 for Seattle. Wonder if we'll let him wear that? We typically dont't do the funny numbers except 99 for Jaime and the reserve GKs (which is typical)
Dotting I's, crossing T's, Olsen says. Asad met his new teammates at lunch. He'll accompany team to Bradenton for tomorrow's friendly vs Malmo but probably won't play.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) February 7, 2018
Couldn't find the proper thread to post this is, but ya'lls new jersey is freaking gorgeous and I am jealous! Good Luck this year!
adidas always plans short on XL jerseys, always have - they don't think regular sized people would order an authentic, they think non-athletes would prefer a replica. It used to be they wouldn't even make one unless someone on the actual team wore an L - they'd only make one size above (or that was the story I was told by merchandise guys) They're small so I get a XXL Last time the black ones were new they had a few.
This thread will now get unmoored and allowed to drift into oblivion. The first preseason match is today at 2:30EDT and a link (embed) of the you tube stream is here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/dc-united-pre-season-thread.2080805/page-7#post-36305755 cheers, james

In this case erecting a statue would not just be a nice honorary gesture, but also a literal recreation of his playing style.
Perhaps because we're finally getting an actual stadium of our own and the MLS Powers-That-Be want to remind us: (1) to mind our place; (2) who's in charge, and; (3) how much they kinda dislike us. Wait-- is that pessimism or realism?
Is that a blind squirrel? What's that expression about a blind squirrel occasionally finding buried nuts? It's a zoological equivalent to "the broken clock". Is that an apt description of Ben's coaching?
My impression has always been of a squirrel on a brisk autumn day under the oaks, Run run run, with no point to it all and eventually the ball (acorn) will find the goal(mouth)
