Will Vancouver release the Brekken! Will Wayne Rooney pull a Zlatan and single-handedly give DC 3 Points? We shall see. It's on!
Thanks for starting a thread, but I vote for a (partial) title change. I've been told I'm not welcome.
I'll be at home watching on TV. Hoping for a strong start in our new stadium. I won't get there for a live match until 7/25 though.
IMHO that's a good plan. Next year half of DC will claim to have gone to the opener and the other half will claim to have gone to Woodstock too. Only downside I see is missing the disgruntled supporters march.
I won't be there. I want to wait to hear the stories of how people got there so I can make a good plan for my travels. Now unfortunately due to living in the Baltimore market I will not be able to watch the match either, so I guess I am relegated to watching highlights. Would love for Rooney to score the game winner though.
You hope there will be highlights to watch. They are selling Polak Johnny's sausages and condiments in the local grocery in Vienna and maybe I'll grill a couple of those Ballimer gut grenades up for the game as a display of solidarity. A Natty Bo is out of the question however
This might actually be a good match - but I fear the hype/hoopla will get in the way. I tried to watch some Vancouver last week to see what we were up against but I fell asleep so I have no idea if they're any good or not. They were good for my REM cycles I would normally have predicted a tie for this first home game (because I'm an optimist) - but in honour of Rooney DCU - 3 Caps - 2 Zoltan to Rooney in the 81st ftw. I don't recall the exact number, but I think we lost our first 5 or 6 games at RFK; for historical perspective For the fastest possible resolution to the SG mess the FO has created, a terrible blowout loss by DCU would be the best thing to hope for, thus reducing demand greatly for tickets to subsequent matches.
If he is in Baltimore it should. I have family in Columbia and have been able to watch while there on ESPN+.
Haha, I'm going but I won't be bragging about it. For one thing, I can't imagine who would be impressed. Unless it's going to turn out like 9/11, a day that will live in infamy.
I'm surprised you were even able to try in that condition. Your ease-of-use expectations... may be too high.
I'll be there. I have the good fortune to be able to park at Ft. McNair -- literally across the street. Plan on getting there around 6:00 to give myself a chance to look around before the game begins. Might even have a beer or two and something to eat. Anyone know if they will be selling those grey hotdogs they used to have at RFK?
I'm retired military. As long as you have a DoD ID you can get on base and park there. Been doing it for Nats games for years.
Opening of a new stadium normaly tends to get picked up nationally. Little bit surprised ESPN hasn't jumped in, especially with Rooney factor. What surprises me more is that they haven't put it on channel 7 for better distribution. I mean, it's opening of a new stadium. Come on!!! It's not like any other United game. I can't see the game.
I lived there during high school when my dad was Vice Commandant - Any chance of getting parking privileges? I thought not
Here we go. Only question now is should I buy a gen ad ticket or a regular seat. It would be nice if I knew where I could stand with a general admission ticket. I guess I should have paid more attention.
Safe smoke will be used at Audi Field today, with required oversight from authorities. All pyro being used is legal and has been done in accordance with local regulations-this is the only permitted pyro at Audi Field. See everyone tonight! #UnitedAtHome pic.twitter.com/wgHIll0fkG— D.C.
