Should've seen it at the latest (and a goal itself!) in the 60th, but Mullins put that volley off the corner kick in the Anacostia
I've gotten my money's worth from 14-16, and the games I was able to go to in 12. The way the seasons ended don't feel like it looking back but they were all great rides in their own way (not so much 15 - but the NE playoff games was great).
Technically, not since 2013. Not even close, really. The truth is we've massively outperformed our budget every year since. Maybe this will be the year that doesn't happen. Last year we had 13 points through 12 games. If we win vs Vancouver, we'll have 14. Just sayin', we've seen this movie before. It's a horror movie, but there are some good parts.
Well I'm furiously thumbing my worry beads in hopes that there's hope, but I also expect to see Ben Olsen replacing one of those poor abandoned animals while the soulful chords accompany a request asking for donations to buy 4 guys who can play the game
I think a lot of people feel this way, and it's absolutely a defensible point of view. It's not mine, for a variety of reasons not limited just to the performance of the team, but I do get the point.
This exactly the business model they're pursuing in San Diego. The MLS franchise is the excuse to get control of the old Chargers stadium site, and the would-be investors are straightforward that they never expect the soccer operations to be profitable. http://www.soccernomics-agency.com/?p=1016
Yea, from the postgame article here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-ben-olsen-takes-blame-after-loss-to-chicago/
I mean I've said it a long time but if Hamid is staying here due to loyalty then it's stupid and misguided. No clue why he hasn't dipped to get a million plus a year at even a shitty club somewhere rather than stay here until he inevitably blows out his knees or whatever.
I wouldn't even blame him for going elsewhere in MLS at this point to win something if he doesn't want/can't go overseas.
Yea because we have hard evidence that sports franchises at all levels take advantage of players l. Players are regularly seen as expendable and battles for single percentage pay increases and medical surveillance for traumatic injuries are like the Maginot lines. Loyalty is the purse.
This isn't AS Roma and Totti, As Shammypants writes, sports franchises are famous for stabbing staff, players, fans and yes entire cities in the back when it suits them. Hamid is like all athletes one step from their last game each time they take the field. He's the best on the squad which could easily be interpreted as damning with faint praise, but he should do all he can to secure his future here or wherever he can get top pay. Regardless of the currency
I am hoping its 2 but I'm afraid its 3. The way fees for entry in the league have been escalating and rightly so suggest they are in it for the short term. Get over the hump of building a stadium and flip the team. They clearly are not "invested" in the football side of things or in terms of bringing in much better players to seriously compete.
