Well... TFC has had about 80% possession. Likewise, they've completed about 4 times as many passes and the disparity between attacking stats is embarrassing. https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2019-05-15-toronto-fc-vs-dc-united/stats
Man, we set up that first half like Toronto are Barcelona. I get the need for caution given the short turnaround and travel, but that was a bit extreme. If by some miracle this stays 0-0 deep into the second half maybe we’ll let our guys cross the halfway line and try to steal one.
Arriola came on in the 62'. That was the final sub. I genuinely believe Olsen thinks he carries subs over from the last games.
So maddening that Acosta would rather be tackled off the ball then to pass to anyone not named Rooney.
Acosta down, will be more stoppage time. With all 3 subs used, United will be SOL if Acosta can't come back in.
I'm proud of everyone of those guys. That was a gutty performance all around. I thought McCann, Robinson and Stieber showed very well. Ward did not look overmatched, having those guys play every week at LU makes a big difference in player development. Amarikwa put in an energetic shift, but DCU really needs a real forward to spell Rooney. Credit to Olsen for serious squad rotation and getting away with it. Oh, and Bradley is a punk, putting your studs on a players leg like that should be straight red.
I thought a late United winner was inevitable. Still, Toronto with 35 shots, just 3 off the MLS record. Take that point and run to Houston!
0-0 final, 35 shots on goal vs. our 3. Ohhhh kaaaaay, everybody . . . Put down the phone, go to your bookshelf, pull out your requisite copy of Fever Pitch and re-read the chapter titled "Clowns." It's chuckle-inducing, in light of this evening's uhhh, festivities.
Take off! I've never seen a statement that had so many Canadian references in it and none had anything to do with maple leaves.
Quick thoughts. I liked what I saw from Ward, good 1 v1, aggressive, quick. Nice surprise. As was Jalen, not a big fan but have to give credit when it's due. Again we have no plan B on offense, we have a bunch of good midfielders and no forwards. This has to be the number one priority during the summer window. This one might be an unpopular opinion but it's been a couple games straight I feel Acosta has been slacking or not giving 100%. I understand his frustration and maybe his head is somewhere else, but he isn't doing himself any favors on the transfer market putting in these types of performances.
