When was the last time goals came from fixed pieces in back to back games? It's almost like they went without in back to back seasons.
didn't know - okay - Owen Goal with the salvage. fcuk you metro!!!!! let's get Metro Playoff Failure started!!!!
Pretty amusing, a comedy of errors with some actual good playing here and there. Clark saves one handily and blows a cross leading to few shots then a goal, he just doesn't impress this observer he seems very heavy footed. Despite the scorekeeper's poor vision, Own Goal got 2, the FK was a clear deflection off a Metroscum player and the second was all JuJu for not getting credit for the first. Hard to believe DCU hasn't won up there in 6 years, Long time since I've been that entertained watching United
Yep! He may not be the striker DCU is looking for, but you can tell he's thirsty and should be considered another great addition to a possible bright season next year!
Wow. Had a meeting and watched highlights. Lots of action, much of it pretty poor. Would Hamid have saved the 2nd goal? Who knows. Clark did make a couple of quality saves. Anyone know if a tie puts us out? And anyone know if I tie puts them in? I want it to come down to the last game with them needing a win. Oh, and what's that I hear? Metros fans booing their team as they walk off the field? That, my friends, is a fcking symphony. Classical music, courtesy of DC United. An own goal in stoppage time to lose 2 points? Sweet sounds to my ears. Too bad we can only play spoiler at this point.
I believe a tie formally eliminates us from the playoffs. We can focus on our mission of Metro Playoff Failure.
That's a fair point. Stieber's shot would have been on goal though so I get why he was awarded that goal.
...Steve and Survive? I'll take it, but yet again we showed that we think a step too slowly to deal with the Metros press. At least now we have the ball skills on the field to be able to cope with it, but it'll be hard for us until the team has gelled a bit more to really break it. Can we stop doing the whole "stop the game for NDL to take the big looping throw-in in our offensive third" now that we have actual weapons? Two of our goals came from plays that started with offensive throw-ins that went to feet, rather than trying to bounce the ball off Birnbaum's head. Defensively ... woof. Three easily could have been five, and we got eaten up on the wings. Taking out Acosta was needed, I guess, if he took a knock, but it really hampered our possession -- he shows for balls in ways many of our other midfielders haven't figured out yet.
We still have one target this season, get RBNY out to seventh place. It's almost impossible - especially if Montreal keeps f...ing it up, but we all should cultivate this dream
Well, that was delightful. Came up from Texas to NYC for some business meetings, and dashed out to Harrison to see the boys in person. Turns out that own goal was very satisfying. Our season has sucked, but if we can help keep them out of the playoffs -- and I really do hope they end up missing by one or two points -- then I will be very happy that I schlepped out there. Fwiw they were better and more threatening than we were. But the game often is not fair.
