Are you the guy arguing with me on twitter about this too? Somebody explain how a metal railing cap falling from an elevated position and striking a person in the shoulder is not, by definition, “almost” a blow to the head? A piece of metal falling on your head can be fatal Nobody is saying her ACTUAL injury was life threatening. The potential for severe injury cannot be denied by a reasonable person...DCU was inches away from a far more serious tragedy. I’m comfortable accepting the possible danger of falling parts but this incident did give me pause. Let’s not pretend nothing happened and brush everything under the rug...
Also I’d take United claims that this wasnt a big deal more seriously if we had heard from or seen LS since the accident. I genuinely wonder if she’s ok
Which is very unfortunate. That is an unbelievably BAD PR tactic for him to take. DCU can be liable for any accident or injury that occurs in Audi Field due to construction negligence. DCU is the head of the snake. If she wanted- she could sue everyone involved- from ownership, project management, general contractors, construction crews, railing installers, site inspectors, etc...all the way down to the architect who designed the detail on the plans for that railing. Given that she is employed by DCU- I'm assuming he's banking on that she will not be getting attorneys involved and everything has been worked out behind closed doors already. That metal railing fell from about 10 feet above her. If she would have been standing six inches further over it would have plunked her on the head. Yes, that could have killed her.
It's been a few hours now and I just want to tell y'all that I am still absolutely over the moon about Hunt leaving. He was, more than anyone else in the organization, doing irreparable harm to the culture of the team. This is a chance for United to fill an important position with someone who knows about our tradition.™
I like you and recognize your online persona is a bit abrasive so this post made me laugh But I’ll tell you why I’m being a drama queen. I almost went to the game with my girlfriend and wonder how i’d have felt if it happened to her...someone i know. To ignore the concerns of fellow DCU fans after a legit cause for worry like this demonstrates a trait that’s increasingly common these days: lack of empathy
I was just checking again for health updates since she hasn't tweeted since gameday. Some news: Lindsay Simpson, the #DCU sideline reporter struck by falling debris at Audi Field on Saturday, says she suffered a concussion during the incident. The object that fell struck the side of her head, neck and shoulder.— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) July 18, 2018
The irony that someone got hurt from falling debris in the new stadium after playing in RFK for decades should be lost on no one.
If Lindsay Simpson's out for a bit who will be the Assistant General Manager, Sideline Broadcast Fluffer, Head Goalkeeping Scout, Public Relations Specialist, New Media Communications Manager, Sports Information Director, Fan Communications Manager, Marketing Communications Director, Brand Builder, Premium Club & Luxury Suite Sales Junior Assistant Manager, Loyalty Program Associate, Account Executive, Inside Sales Manager, Brand Activator, Product Guru, Customer Relationship Manager, Sponsorship Sales Director, Community Relations Specialist, Event Sales Planner, and Digital Video Editor?
Sucks she got hurt. But she wasn't hurt by debris. She was hurt by a poorly installed 40lb railing. Debris by definition is "the remains of anything broken down or destroyed; ruins; rubble". Getting hit by falling debris could be expected, it's loose. But to be hit by something shoddily put together is far more serious IMO. PS - Damn you, english teacher mother for making me have to comment here.
A link to Leviens comments FYI, this is what #DCU managing partner Jason Levien had to say about the incident during our appearance on the Kojo Nnamdi show on Monday: pic.twitter.com/VbekXNXfrP— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) July 18, 2018
Loudon was misspelled twice but it was correctly spelled on the one winged horsie logo. We'll have to wait to see if they are stallions or geldings
Nothing that he didn't already include in his tweets, but here's an update. Over on @WCP, I've got some more details on the incident at Audi Field on Saturday involving #DCU sideline reporter & VP of Comms/Marketing Lindsay Simpson: https://t.co/fB6XTaEs1k— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) July 19, 2018
