Brilliant managing... Bring in Mullins in the 90th. He can turn it around with 1 minute plus stoppage time. Should have been brought nin way earlier.
so we get beaten like a piñata in front of a big crowd by a team that is well coached and has a coherent plan for play. what fun is that? good thing next week MLS fans will get a relief for all of that competence while our inept team will face off at a high school size stadium where you know parking will be a total cluster, while our FO is at war with our dwindling fan base. day, meet night. at a certain point, with the fractiousness on the field and in the stands, do we have to suspend use of the team "United"
TBH, at three down with 15 minutes left, get Durkin some minutes and get Moreno used to playing in a 4-2-3-1, 'cause that's probably the formation we'll be seeing from here to July.
Getting your pants pulled down in front of the cheer leading squad is one thing but they disgraced themselves in front of 72,013 paying customers on what's pretty close to National TV. Are torches and pitchforks permitted at the soccerplex?
The problem is Durkin will likely follow the long parade of overhyped youngsters who never makes it, so it really doesn’t matter if he sees play or not.
Overhyped or mismanaged and misdeveloped? We don’t have a track record with talent recognition so why would trust the coaches’ evaluation skills? James
Back from Mercedes Benz and almost on my way to the airport; Impressions: 1) I guess Tata figured out bennyball 2) great stadium, you would want to say too big, but then the crowd is 72K and so you don't say that anymore 3) I saw the big hole where the Dome was, I asked around, the project is to build a big tailgating space and perhaps also a hotel; there isn't much in terms of restaurants and food generally speaking in the area, just a food court at the CNN building, so I don't know if it would be a great idea to have a hotel there without anything nearby 4) Shocking prices at the stadium; other than the usual suspects $9 beer, everything else is super cheap: pizza slice (as big as the pizzas at RFK) $3; water $2; soda $2 (free refill); souvenir soda $4 (free refill). I was in a shock 5) Atlanta Utd plays well but as usual they also take a lot of risks, if they think to play like this vs more solid teams they won't go very far. DCU made the mistake of trying to play like them, and you obviously can not compete. 6) our groups, I would say about 40 people or so, not bad. Their groups, loud at times, but all in all frankly disappointing. You can tell soccer is still the new thing here. They are just blessed with a very good, pleasant to watch team. Heading to the airport now.
If DC plays another half like that first one I'm switching to just watching highlights. I didn't expect to make the playoffs but I expect our five man midfield full of TAM internationals to pass the ball and create chances. I don't think Olsen finishes the season.
