It's also how you lose credibility on valid claims/complaints/concerns. Sort of like a boy who cried wolf effect.

The 2018 Development Academy playoff draw is out. San Jose, D.C. + Chicago the only MLS organizations not to send at least one team (MNUFC, TFC + LAFC not applicable):https://t.co/Yu9tPBnfZy— Travis Clark (@travismclark) June 7, 2018
How can anybody nationally rank U13-U14 teams. How can any rational adult pay attention to such rankings? - (OK, OK - I know we're here at Big Soccer Forum, so the prevalence of idiocy is higher than the national average - but still) Rankings (national, regional, state, etc) of any team below U17 (or better yet U19) has been the bane of US soccer from the 60s on. Its just the typical Olympic Development or Select Team league culture that rewards building super-teams of athletes rather than developing skills and field sense in soccer players - (Same thing how AAU is currently ruining youth basketball) All the better European academies concentrate on skills and field sense, and have full-field pickup games only on Saturdays. And by pickup games, I mean just that. They choose new teams every time. Their academies are ranked based on the success of individual players ten years later, rather than some silly "MLS Academy Playoff". These tournaments are OK, but more for the development of individual players than to brag about national rankings.
Maybe we can give them the benefit of the doubt and think they don't believe in the competition aspect as pointed out by JohnL above, it's technically counter-productive to their stated mission. Of course, that would be easier if they didn't brag about other tournaments they do attend.
Closest thing we have to a Homegrown thread I think this embedding of a reply-tweet will show both tweets ..... Deal is imminent. Red Bulls will probably relinquish allocation money. DCU would retain sell-on rights. Same arrangement as Eryk Williamson to Portland last winter. Trade deadline has passed, but this unique situation (homegrown turning pro) wouldn't apply.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) August 28, 2018 FTM (FTRB for the brand-conscious)
Has anyone here seen this kid play? Are we being short-sighted here? Jersey has a much better record of developing talent than we do . . .
Not sure that's exactly true, but they do have a better record at playing young talent than we do - or anyone but Dallas does. I turned on a German game (to see Pulisic) the other day on Fox and they were playing the other redbulls and the announcer said something about young players asking for transfers there because they'd likely play more - so maybe its a corporate directive. Cynically (who, me?) I think probably because younger players can be run til they drop and be replaced by more youngsters while paying them less than more established players - that's a pretty corporate way of thinking that works for a bit but does not benefit the players as much as they think it does long-term. But if you have an endless pipeline of players to burn out it's good for the corporation.
Deal is done. Red Bulls relinquish $75K general allocation money and a percentage of sell-on fee if he ends up being transfered outside MLS at any point.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) September 6, 2018
It I read correctly the club is essentially handling local youth development to the clubs while getting first choice signing rights over these players?
