All of the MLS sides are advancing which means...

why is Pittsburgh still a thing?

Fun fact, Pitt is Eastern Time but one of their TV stations (local CBS I think) has a K call letter

I thought even Columbus was EST, but I couldn't say for sure. Thanks.

Pittsburghers (burghians? Burgherites? twatwafflers? I dunno, whatever they call themselves) still have no idea where the Mississippi is.

Because we will be playing guys who are not normally in our 18 such as Jeffrey, Robinson & Mishu - and Dykstra will start between the pipes.

Actually, nobody is in EST because we are in Eastern Daylight Time now - EDT. But I notice almost everyone still says EST. I'm a dick.

They are 6-4-4, played on Saturday.

Major assets: A guy named Sterling Flunder, another guy who's name is almost Viagra, a guy named Boris and a guy with the last name c'deBaca. I'd have to root for these guys if they weren't playing against us.

WTF is a Riverhound? Wouldn't hounds drown in a river? I think they should do a tie-in with Discovery Channel (or whoever it is) and change the name to River Monsters. It sure is better than Magic Jack as a name.

Actually Dick, there's some place in Canada that doesn't observe daylight savings and is still on EST.

Riverhound is derived from "river dog", a nick name for barge workers back in the day.

Pittsburgh was originally named the River Dogs when created and when Kasper was the original GM, but never played a game under that name because the Charleston River Dogs threatened to sue if they didn't change their name.

Dempsey shouldn't be suspended from league games, but he should be Blanco'd and essentially suspended long enough that he won't play next year's tournament.

I love the Open Cup too.

This is definitely the banana peel match for DC. we're a mere 5-4-0 on the road against lower level competition in the first match of the tournament. Also, we've gone to the final four 8 times, or been knocked out in the first game 4 times for a total of 12 times in the 16 times we've played in the tournament. SO it's feast or famine in first round games.

I thought Boswell would get a night off, but not if Birnbaum is suspended. I guess I'll try to watch one of the feeds.

Could be Halsti and Opare with Jeffrey at DM and someone else in a diamond...Hopefully not though. Boswell got a game off recently he should be fine.

Starting XI: Dykstra; Mishu, Opare, Halsti, Robinson; Doyle, Jeffrey, Aguilar; Coria, Silva, Arrieta

Mishu at left back (not surprising as that was his position in college and the preseason)
    Halsti in central defense
My guess is a straight 4 across the middle with Coria inside w/Jeffrey

Not much of a bench - Worra, NDL, Kemp and Korb

much better lineup than last year's against Rochester

But not as good as most of the other MLS teams lineups and available subs.

That's an underwhelming lineup. I'm going with 50/50 odds of success. Isn't it interesting that Pontius, Seaton or Boswell aren't even on the bench? Only four subs in a competition that allows 4 subs?
