Though considering they traded him for a sack of beans, I have to guess it was.

I don't think I really agree with trading him, but the expansion draft angle would explain the low price at least.

In the current Athletic article Guillermo briefly mentioned something to the effect of (paraphrasing) "Dax quality has dropped the last 2 years and was told he wasn't guaranteed a starting position next season and chose Nashville as his first trade location." I don't know how much of that is true but perhaps that facilitated the next to nothing transfer to do him a solid?

I agree with every word of this and it is what I would have expected.

I think the Fire can need a more versatile player at CDM than Dax McCarty.

  6. It is the correct decision.

I like Dax, and would like to thank him for his service, but if this team wants to win they need to upgrade the backbone of the team

    CB
    Defensive midfielder
    Striker

I'm sad to see Bastian, Dax and Niko leave, but it really gives the Fire the opportunity to build a good team (given the correct moves are made of course, and firing Pauno was step #1).

    Agreed.
As I mentioned earlier, the three of them leaving opens up over $8,000,000 in salary, dumping Marcelo and the two useless GK opens up almost $2,000,000 more.
That is real money for MLS.

Did they get rid of Pauno? Will they actually replace those they lost with better? I will believe it when i see it. I have not seen anything yet to suggest anything has changed for the better but the field.

  10. :eyeroll:

Today makes two months since Mansueto took over.

Three days since the season actually ended.

They already shipped out an older player, got a younger one from Europe, fired the coaching staff....not to mention all the work on moving to SF.

But you haven't seen anything YET.
My toddler waiting to get home to eat his Halloween candy has more patience than some of you.

And is less dramatic about it.

Sorry but am not overly impressed with that player we picked up. Yes I suppose after all these years I am less patient but regardless I am still not going to believe shit is good til it actually is here and actually is better. Now that Pauno is gone...yay! One thing to cheer about.
