Round 10 part 3: Mittag hat-trick rounds out the spring season 2014-07-02 FC Rosengård - Piteå IF, 6 - 1, Publik: 803 8’ Own goal 0-1, 12’ Ramona Bachmann (Passning Anja Mittag) 1-1, 20’ Anja Mittag (Passning Alexandra Riley) 2-1, 27’ Anja Mittag 3-1, 45’ Elin Rubensson 4-1, 80’ Anja Mittag (Passning Lina Nilsson) 5-1, 89’ Kathleen Radtke (Passning Alexandra Riley) 6-1 Malmö's home paper wouldn't name names, but Piteå's home paper was happy to point to Anita Asante as the own-goal scorer. SvD's report of the game focusses more on the near-term future than the game itself, mentioning that several people leave the club after this game, including coach Jonas Eidevall (to be replaced by Markus Tilly), goalkeeper Thora Helgadottir (moving home to Iceland), Paula Radke (going to Manchester City), Sofia Anker Kofoed (headed to the US for studies, and football?), and of course Lisa Ek (probably going to K/Göteborg, though that's not official as of this morning). The last-named says that there is plenty of separation anxiety, but that she simply wants more time on the field.
So, halfway through the 2014 season, here's the standings for Damallsvenskan: (abbreviations: S = matches played, V = matches won, O = matches tied, F = matches lost, [GM = goals for, IM = goals against], (D) = goal differential, P = a popular chair from Ikea) Team S: V, O, F [GM-IM] (D) P FC Rosengård 10: 9, 0, 1 [33-7] (26) 27 KIF Örebro DFF 10: 8, 0, 2 [18-6] (12) 24 Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC 10: 5, 3, 2 [25-10] (15) 18 Linköpings FC 10: 5, 3, 2 [20-10] (10) 18 Umeå IK FF 10: 4, 2, 4 [18-11] (7) 14 Eskilstuna United DFF 10: 3, 5, 2 [12-13] (-1) 14 Piteå IF 10: 4, 2, 4 [11-14] (-3) 14 Kristianstads DFF 10: 3, 3, 4 [7-9] (-2) 12 Vittsjö GIK 10: 2, 2, 6 [10-26] (-16) 8 AIK FF 10: 2, 0, 8 [5-28] (-23) 6 Jitex Mölndal BK 10: 0, 0, 10 [4-29] (-25) 0 Tyresö 404: team not found Other news: Linköpings FC will host Kristianstads DFF in the Swedish Cup final on August 7. One wonders how to increase interest in this competition; the upper-division teams seem to be pretty meh about it, though the lower-division teams seem to get a little excited when they out-do themselves and beat one of their supposed betters. Or am I just remembering a scene from the TV show "Häxdansen"?
Amusingly enough, it happened right after the TV commentators had been discussing how strange it was that Asante seemed to have lost favour with the England coach.
FC Rosengård has something big coming today. Apparently they're presenting "one of the best players in the World" at noon. Marta is just returning from Brazil....coincidence? Who else could it be?
Confirmed by their local paper http://www.sydsvenskan.se/sport/fotboll/fcr/fc-rosengard-presenterar-varldsstjarna/
And as I suspected but had nothing concrete to support, one of the reason Marta stayed in Sweden is that she want a Swedish citizenship. http://www.expressen.se/kvp/sport/darfor-vill-marta-bli-svensk-medborgare/ To get it she need to be allowed to count the time she spent before going over to play in the WPS*, but seeing that it is obvious that it was for work reason and only three years she probably have a good chance. *Earlier time living in Sweden may be counted but that depends on for how long one lived abroad and for what reason. She need to have lived her 5 years to fulfill the demands.
Yes, that will not be a problem unless Brazil have something odd set up against it. And opens up possibilities for any chidlren she may get
Hi folks , I'd like to know where I could see all the departures from Tyreso ? I know Marta (Rosengard), the Americans and Boquete in USA, Seger (PSG), Diaz (Eskilstuna), Sembrant (Montpellier) what about the rest?
There's a Swedish silly season page on spelare12.com Verónica Boquete (Portland Thorns), Christen Press (Chicago Red Stars), Meghan Klingenberg (Houston Dash), Whitney Engen (Houston Dash), Line Røddik Hansen (FC Rosengård), Tinja-Rikka Korpela (Bayern München), Caroline Seger (PSG), Linda Sembrant (Montpellier), Lisa Dahlkvist (Avaldsnes), Johanna Rytting Kaneryd (Älta), Malin Diaz (Eskilstuna United), Marta (FC Rosengård), Lisa Klinga (Avaldsnes), Carola Söberg (Avaldsnes), Madelaine Edlund (Sunnanå SK)
Victory celebration with Kristianstads DFF after beating Piteå IF the other day. Oh and tonight the championship might be decided when 2nd placed KIF Örebro (surprise team of the season) hosts league leaders FC Rosengård. Örebro really needs a victory to keep the gold race alive. Will be on TV4 Sport.
KIF Örebro - FC Rosengård 0-1 Pretty lame game by league leaders Rosengård but they won thanks to an inefficient home team. Rosengård's POTM Ramona Bachmann served Marta for the goal and was also attacked by a duck Goal and duck attack:
looks like there's no real competition then for Rosengard as they got now a 9 point lead over their closest rival. Probably the most interesting thing is will Anja Mittag, with 17 goals in 14 games, break the all time Swedish League scoring record? That will break the hearts of the CPLF(Christen Press Love Fest, otherwise known as the Equalizer message board)
with Marta feeding her on the left, and Bachmann on the right, and almost no competition, you never never really know! How many games are left?
FC Rosengård - Linköpings FC 2-3 (22’ Sjögran, 55’ Bachmann - 9’ Gajhede Knudsen, 48’ Rolfö, 81’ Harder) Linköping is really gearing up for Champions League. They were the better team tonight and could have/should have scored a couple of more goals. Second loss for Rosengård this season, both times to Linköping. Göteborg, Linköping and Örebro (one game in hand) all on 30 points in the battle for 2nd place. Rosengård still way ahead on 39 points with 5 games left.
And add to that the highlights from TV4; Linköping's first goal from a corner is fun, coming as it does after three headers in a row, but I really recommend seeing Bachmann's very twisty pretty run to score her goal (at about the 2minute mark in the video). Also nice for Sjögran to score (a penalty resulting from a Mittag flopfest) in her 401st (!) appearance for Malmö DFF/LdB/Rosengård.
FC Rosengård is paying Marta a little less per month than it is paying to her teammates Mittag and Bachmann; however, the club is leaving her free to work with her private sponsors even if it means her missing practices. That 'work with private sponsors' is bringing in more money than her salary. All this, according to club leader Håkan Wifvesson, in this story at espressen.se.
full game replay of Rosengard vs Eskilstuna United(I take it that the Esk stands for Eskimo and the team is from way up Northern Sweden pretty darn close to the artic?)(oh, and they love eating tuna!)
FC Rosengård is playing K/Göteborg at this very moment, and has a chance to mathematically lock up the season with a tie or win. At the moment, though, in the 65th, it's 2-1 to K/G. Both K/G goals by Lieke Martens, FCR,s from Anya Mittag. And Lisa Ek just came off, which means she was on, hooray!
By golly, Rosengård managed two more goals to win! Final score, 2-3, with goals in the 76th and 80th by Marta and Mittag repectively.
Goals and celebrations: Good game from Göteborg but 17 year old Nathalie Persson comes on for 20 years older Therese Sjögran with 15 mins to go and delivers two assist to seal the deal for Rosengård.
