OK mate - a lot of thought went into the system! In hindsight I can see the links to what you describe of course - for example Keegan's high placing and Rummenigge being up near the top end - of course they won the Ballon D'or twice each. Actually, though Messi literally had the biggest boost from recent votes I suppose, Keegan had the biggest rise up the standings and is very close to Dalglish now for example.

 

Ok, I'll adjust the standings accordingly (not now but over the next days at least).

 

That's fair enough I think, or least I won't ask you to revise your list as you do have a clear system! It's best if only one person does it that way I guess otherwise we' have sets of similar results but it's good to see the results of such a method and you did use your judgement to adjust it where you felt absolutely necessary.

 

Myself - moreso peak form but including consistency and adaptability etc. Not so much career form/achievments/longevity but I get the impression quite a lot of other voters placed a lot more emphasis on those things. As we are judging 'top' players I don't think there is any specific way to do it and I certainly didn't lay down any guide at the start.

 

When I do the edit, I'll need to put Best in 13th, ahead of Muller of course - the points I showed were correct but I accidentally left Best in 14th.

 

I should be ok doing the update thanks, but perhaps I should check Dearman's latest list against what I had down for him (I did change his vote not so long ago though and that top 50 looks similar to what I saw).

Yeah, I've noticed there were some differences certainly now.

I'll post them here for future reference - this is the top 50 as per the link with a + in brackets indicating a rise up the list, and a - indicating a fall. Cubillas also loses two points, as Falcao comes into the top 50 at his expense - interestingly since I counted down the top 50 for this thread Falcao moved out of it with Schiaffino replacing him; Bergkamp has now made way for Weah so I'll reward the Liberian with a couple of the most recent Youtube videos for him below Dearman's revised list:
