It's not inexplicable. He was the only offensive player left on the bench, and United needed a goal. Turns out, he was dreadful, but the sub made perfect sense.
It was as Decade of DCU26 said, which is a bit of an issue for me. Miranda is, I think, an out-and-out striker, which puts him in competition with Brown and Mullins. Brown has shown me very little, while Miranda was strikingly good in his few moments, and Mullins, while perhaps not a classical striker, plays a crafty forward position well; getting into good positions and playing off of others. I know Stieber won't be in game shape for some time, but he apparently prefers to play out wide. I can see him and Arriola as our wings, but I would not like to have to choose between Miranda and Mullins for the frontrunner role. How about a return to the classic 4-4-2, with the two M's up front and a midfield of Stieber, Acosta, Canouse/Harkes, and Arriola. Would we get overrun?
I think Canouse would have brought more to the table offensively than Büscher did, even as a holding midfielder.
Hell, moving Franklin to center mid would have. Buscher was about as bad as possible. I don't know if Richmond will want him.
I think Goff tweeted hte other day he was going to Rochester Rhinos. Makes sense, I assume that's near Syracuse - maybe he has some ties up there still.
why would he? I liked what I saw from Miranda too. It would be a shame to ship him off to Richmond while we keep putting the same old last place dreck on the field every week
Eh players typically don't celebrate against their old club. I know he was only here for 2 years but I'll still be salty about it. Maybe he was unhappy to be traded.
Smacking a ball out of the air with that much force and accuracy is merely opportunistic? Okay then...
Granted, it was only a few mins and if he had understood that pass from Mullins to head in that goal, Miranda would've been praised for it, but with all the current United climate I saw in that match and from what I've read in these threads, I'm thinking that maybe it was a blessing in disguise. I'm no fool and understand I'm just entering this thing, but from what I've seen (and I may be totally way off on this), change needs to happen in D.C. and these types of wake-up calls are needed. That being said, with Miranda, I'd recommend you either keep him playing as much as you can or if you can't give him consistent playing time, then maybe it's best to have him in Richmond because inconsistent playing time is his Achilles' heel. Speaking biasely, man how F-ing awesome it would've been to notch that header in! ¡Vamos United!
I don't think Silva overdid it. He didn't run around like an ass. He showed emotion, which I understand because that was a big goal for them, they actually have something to play for.
