Who: D.C. United v. Chicago Fire
What: MLS 2015 Regular Season Match 15 (DC), Match 12 (Chicago)
When: Wednesday, June 3, 7:00 PM
    Where: RFK Stadium
Why: Both clubs are part of MLS and as such are scheduled to play each other between 1 and 3 times per regular season depending on geographic location. D.C. travel to Chicago on 6/24, and host Chicago again on 10/18.

    Form:

    upload_2015-6-1_11-47-37.png

    Table:

    D.C.: 1st Eastern, 2nd MLS, 7W-4D-3L, 25 points, +4 GD
    Chicago: 6th Eastern, 15th Overall, 4W-2D-5L, 14 points, 0 GD

Personal: I would like Halsti to start as he as not seen the RFK field yet and I would like to watch him off the ball.

It's dry season in DC, I'm gonna have to insist that fire be Put. Right. Out.

How have we played 3 more games, couldn't be the consecutive 3-game weeks could it? Nah.

    DC: 4
    Chicago: 1

2 in the first half by Rolfe who turns to the Chi bench after the second and offers the coaches a special two-handed (and another body-part) gesture showing his appreciation for being traded, a 10-man DC add two more in the second-half before allowing a garbage goal in an unexplained 6 minutes of stoppage.
Rolfe avoids additional DisCo action by claiming wardrobe malfunction

The crowd, as always on Wednesdays, is amazing.

I think Chicago is going to be tougher than you'd expect, but we'll manage it. 3-1 with a very late icer.

No chance it's DC giving up the goal in
    Sean Johnson Time™.

    Thx,

I am eagerly awaiting having Rolfe and Halsti on the pitch together for a significant period of time. Both are soccer-smart, and I think they will play off each other beautifully. Maybe Wednesday; maybe Saturday?

I think (and hope) Wednesday. Rolfe is our best attacking threat, and Halsti seems to be in a play one sit one pattern already.

Doubt he'll play the entire game Saturday, he's going to Finland for two games next week.
Hopefully Wednesday, you know Rolfe won't miss it and Arnaud is suspended :)

I didn't know Arnaud was suspended, jesus, that many yellows already?

And yea Halsti won't even play Saturday then; maybe come on to solidify a lead. But, if he had to, he should go 90 on Saturday. It's not Ben's problem Finland have a game 4 days later.

Well yes and no. If the player is rushed into too much playing time while not really being completely fit, it can lead to injury. So practically speaking, if we ask him to go 90, and he travels and is asked to go 90 again, he is more likely to get injured, right?

Which would distinctly be more of a problem for us, than it would be for them.

I don't think Arnaud is suspended. But Bos and he will be for Saturday if they get carded Wednesday.

    Thx,

You may have to wait. MLSist tweeted that he's suspended for his kick out.

Ugh … Our strikers just find new creative ways to miss games.

I wonder if they made a pact before season … striker with most appearances at end of season has to eat a poop sandwich.

We are going to miss Rolfe big time...regardless, I'll be coming to the game and think we can get all 3 points.

Huh, I would have sworn Davey got a yellow - oh well, I was also maybe hoping him being suspended would trigger Ben starting Halsti so maybe I played mind-tricks on myself :)

Does anyone have a GIF (or can point to a time on a highlight video) of this supposed Rolfe play that he somehow deserved a card or disciplinary action for that no-one seems to have seen but Taylor Twellman?

It's up at Black And Red United. They have a blog post about it.
When I saw it in real time, I thought nothing of it.
When I saw the replay it was clear as day and I expected a 1-game suspension, which is reportedly what he got. How anyone who saw the replay couldn't at least see what looked like a clear purposeful kick is beyond me. Homers probably trying to explain it away. I would say there is 5-10% reasonable doubt that he did it on purpose to injure and out of anger. Granted he'd been getting hacked a lot and the Nogiuera foul was one of many bad ones. Rolfe I'm sure thought he could get away with it from how he was tackled, but the replay doesn't lie.

I also thought I remembered Davy getting a yellow, but perhaps he just escaped it even if he might have deserved one.
The ref was pretty bad overall on Saturday. Sometimes in our favor and sometimes not.
Hopefully we'll see Halsti anyway on Wednesday. If not Wed, at least on Saturday. It's only fair to give him a shot with more of the first team. I think he's really good.

It looks like there is a 2-for-1 ticket deal floating around. If anyone has the promotion code, please let me know :)

As one of those "homers" the suspension is bullshit. Nogueira is a hacking little pussy who clipped Rolfe from behind and then tried to run through him to the ball. If he got kicked by Rolfe as he was falling, too ********ing bad. The DisCo is a joke -- nothing last year on Felipe into Espy in Montreal and Jones bumps Geiger after being carded for dissent and nothing happens. If the DisCo can't or won't do its job, get rid of it and leave the policing to the refs on the field in real time.
