It seems the 'Runners' coach closed his recruiting spree with this new addition: With the addition of defender Stephon Marcano, the 2018 CSU Bakersfield men's soccer recruiting class is complete. A defender and native of Trinidad and Tobago, Marcano will join a group of 10 men that head coach Richie Grant has signed for the upcoming season. Marcano graduated from his high school, Fatima College, in 2017 and was named his team's most valuable player in his final season with the Wolves. He led the Wolves to a North Zone championship in 2016. "Stephon is a top defender who likes to support the attack with his pace from right full," said Grant. "He's a great addition to a strong incoming class. We were fortunate to find Stephon so late in the process and we're confident he's a great fit for our program." Marcano is currently playing in the playoffs with the US Development Academy for the Portland Timbers. https://gorunners.com/news/2018/6/20/mens-soccer-marcano-puts-final-stamp-on-2018-recruiting-class.aspx
And the season opens this evening against CSUN at 7 PM (PT) at home. 10 new recruits. Let's see how the team will improve. My son told me that the air quality was very bad this week with all surroundings fires (furthermore, we know that Bakersfield pollution is regularly among the highest ones in the US).
They found so much oil in Oildale across the river that they had no room to build a city - thus Bakersfield grew, I was driving through the area once and I asked my car GPS for the nearest gas stations. It directed me to the front gate of a refinery.
To illustrate the point above… California is going through hard times…. Unfortunately, due to air quality in Spokane, today's match against Gonzaga has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. Its back to Bakersfield to prepare for our next match Friday at UC Riverside!#ShocktheWAC— CSUB WOMEN'S SOCCER (@csub_wsoccer) August 19, 2018
CSUB upset Air Force. Win 1-0 ! Incredible. The `Runners hang on and defeat No. 7 Air Force, the highest-ranked team in school history, in front of a record-breaking crowd! #WACmsoc #NCAASoccer pic.twitter.com/4AGnV28cP9— CSUB MEN'S SOCCER (@csub_msoccer) October 5, 2018 After this game, I planned to debrief the season so far . I will have a lighter tone Go Runners.
Woo-hoo! Three straight shutouts now that boy is back in the starting lineup and match-fit. That can't be a coincidence, can it?
Well I did not dare to think it too loudly….. I could be accused of bias…. (especially after our win at the World Cup, it would be interpreted as typical French arrogance…). But Sandon your wisdom is my lighthouse. So I can only agree with your analysis with humility And let's say also that his new freshman partner in central defense is pretty good also (they understand each other very well) and that their goal keeper made terrific saves (he got last week's WAC defender award). Plus the return of their captain Jacob Allatore who helped to stabilize the midfield. So the team can get results thanks to a very well organized defense, allowing to compensate for a so-so offense. Not the most attractive football, but they can grind results through toughness and resolute defending. A nice tweet where we can see why I am happy and proud of Jérémie's journey: What do you do after a historic win? They had a plan to limit the influence of Tucker Bone, who is AF's MC. In the second half he did not have the influence he usually demonstrates (last year he was their tormentor).
And at the end, the Runners and their coaches were happy The full gallery with hundreds of pictures is available at: https://photos.app.goo.gl/99JifimMZoDGTSgV8
vs Utah Valley Clearly not stated in the tweet (Some like me might not know all teams' mascotte ). We have another big WAC match-up at the Main Soccer Field this afternoon! #WACmsoc 🖥: https://t.co/W5oPfEWnqA📈:https://t.co/2g9MMv3RV1 pic.twitter.com/Z33CuBandY— CSUB MEN'S SOCCER (@csub_msoccer) October 7, 2018
And unsurprisingly, the Runners were still on their cloud. Lost 2-1 against Utah Valley. They opened the score, but fell back to their known level. Poor offensive game and individual defensive lapses. Plus some weird decisions by the referee that disallowed a goal without a valid reason. Frustrating.
Good stuff. Now how about doing the BW a favor by not joining in 2020? CSUB's best served remaining in the WAC.
