Nenad Gracan has called up his squad for the UEFA U21 Europeans Finals. He has selected 25 players so 2 players from the squad will have to be cut. The notable omissions for me are Andrija Balic and Karlo Letica. Balic did get a lot of playing time in the second half of the season for the Dutch team Fortuna Sittard. While Letica has been on the bench since week 12 of the Belgium League.

This is the first time the U21's have participated in the European finals since 2004. The play a friendly on June 12th against Denmark. They are in group C. They play Romania on June 18th, followed by England June 21st and then France on June 24th.

Vratari: Josip Posavec, Ivo Grbić, Adrian Šemper

Braniči: Duje Ćaleta-Car, Borna Sosa, Filip Benković, Petar Mamić, Filip Uremović, Nikola Katić, Domagoj Bradarić, Toni Borevković, Branimir Kalaica, Marijan Čabraja

Veznjaci: Nikola Vlašić, Ivan Šunjić, Luka Ivanušec, Toma Bašić, Nikola Moro, Lovro Majer, Kristijan Bistrović

Napadači: Alen Halilović, Josip Brekalo, Marin Jakoliš, Robert Murić, Sandro Kulenović

Nenad Gracan has named the new U21 team for this round of qualifying. This campaign will start with a friendly against UAE on September 5th and then their first qualifying match in this cycle will be against Scotland in Sibenik on September 10th.

    Vratari: Adrian Šemper, Dinko Horkaš

Braniči: Borna Sosa, Branimir Kalaica, Domagoj Bradarić, Boško Šutalo, Luka Hujber

Veznjaci: Luka Ivanušec, Lovro Majer, Nikola Moro, Kristijan Bistrović, Mihael Žaper, Ivan Lepinjica, Darko Nejašmić

Napadači: Sandro Kulenović, Antonio Marin, Ivan Dolček, Mario Ćuže

Pretpozivi: Nediljko Labrović, Bruno Bogojević, Joško Gvardiol, Marin Šverko, Vinko Soldo, Hrvoje Smolčić, Matko Zirdum, Marko Divković, Ante Palaversa

Hard to know so early if there are any players that should be on the squad. But he only called up 2 center backs . Not sure why he did not call up more CB's. And I am not sure why only 18 players were called up. Both of those numbers seem kind of meagre if you ask me.

U21 started out their qualifiers for Euro 2021 with a loss to Scotland in Sibenik. The team ended up losing to Scotland 1-2.
Their coach , Nenad Gracan, then tendered his resignation. IMO, he has been atrocious as an U21 coach.
I am hearing that Igor Biscan who stepped down as HNK Rijeka coach will become the new coach of this team. I think that is a very good move. But either way the youth teams are not moving in any clear direction. And that stems from bad leadership by Suker. which really should not surprise anyone.

They won the last two matches. So if they win these last two matches, they finish first in the group and qyalify for Euro's next summer. Scotland away is the tougher of the two fixtures.

Croatia were controlling the game 2-0 then Semper gives up a bad goal and Sosa has a moment of madness getting a red card. 2-2 draw but could have easily lost after the red card. Gvardiol is going to be really good. What a player that kid is. I think he’s good enough for the national team right now.

U21 team has qualified for Euro 2021. They drew Scotland 2-2 and then beat Lithuania 7-0 to qualify for the Euro 2021 U21, as 1 of 5 best 2nd placed teams to qualify. Slovenia and Hungary are co-hosts of this tournament. Because of the A team Euro's being postphoned from 2020 to 2021 we will see the group stage for Euro U21 being played out in March of 2021, followed by the knockout stage which will take place in May and the beginning of June 202. The draw for the Finals groups will take place December 10, 2020 in Nyon Switzerland.

Englezi su bahati zbog vise objektivnih razloga:

    - oformili su nogomet kakav danas poznajemo, pravila.
    - imaju najstariji nogometni savez FA. Nemaju ispred English.
    - klupski karakter, snazan navijacki kult oko klubova u svim ligama. Klubovi 2,3,4 lige imaju rasprodane stadione.

    - imaju problem u formiranju domacih igraca.

No, kada dovedes mnostvo stranaca, prica se zavrti i djeluje bolje. Zvijezde bi im bile: Lenglet, Pavard, Dubois, Rabiot. Griezman, Lloris, Giroud, Hernandez stranci, Njemacka, Portugal, Spanjolska, Italija

Hrvatska ce vjerojatno prebaciti nekoliko U 21 igraca u A selekciju. Zrtvovanje U 21. Moro, Uremovic, Sosa, Ivanusec, Bradaric, Majer idu u A momcad sada na Euro ili u Katar 2022. Sverko, Spikic, Bistrovic djeluju perspektivno. Spikic - novi Pjaca, Sverko - novi Vrsaljko.

Biscan called up the new squad for start of the Euro U21 Qualifying today. As they have matches coming up against Azerbaijan(home, September 2) and Finland(away, September 7) . I watched Pandur recently and he looked really solid, could not do anything about the first half goals against Sassuolo on the weekend. Nice to have Stanisic switch to play for us. We are thin in that RB position and he plays that position. Mind you he has played in all those backline positions, but RB is his predominate position. The big question mark is can Antonio Marin get back on track? we shall see in the couple of years if he can get it together. Otherwise a solid squad.

Vratari: Dominik Kotarski (Gorica), Ivor Pandur (Verona), Nikola Čavlina (Dinamo).

Braniči: Boško Šutalo (Atalanta), David Čolina (Hajduk), Mario Vušković (Hajduk), Bartol Franjić (Dinamo), Krešimir Krizmanić (Gorica), Nikola Soldo (Lokomotiva), Josip Stanišić (Bayern), Josip Šutalo (Dinamo).

Vezni: Martin Baturina (Dinamo), Marko Bulat (Dinamo), Denis Bušnja (Rijeka), Lukas Kačavenda (Lokomotiva), Adrian Liber (Rijeka), Jurica Pršir (Gorica), Luka Sučić (RB Salzburg).

Napadači: Ivan Dolček (Hajduk), Antonio Marin (Šibenik), Stipe Biuk (Hajduk), Marco Pašalić (Borussia Dortmund), Roko Šimić (RB Salzburg), Marin Ljubičić (Hajduk).
