I’m really disappointed by the turnout. Weather was fantastic and didn’t seem at all like it was in the 40’s. We had a fantastic first 25 minutes but for whatever reason, we just couldn’t control the ball in the middle. Santos was the weakest link out there.
We should probably expect lower attendance this year than last. Between the team not doing much advertising or promotions and fans who don't want to give Precourt any money, it should tank. One positive from that will be if there is a forced sale, it will reduce the valuation of the team.
It was low attendance, but we can expect that. Nordecke looked great from 226, and the team fared well in the very beginning and very end of the game. Now we just need to work on the rest of the game. I like this squad though, sometimes a little too soft at defending the flanks. They’ll figure it out.
Well, well, well. The Columbus Crew we've gotten to know over the last few seasons: They know how to score, but don't seem to know how to do much else. This attack is much better with Santos now that he's gotten a full pre-season in. And as much as we all loved Meram, he just slowed us down too often. We're seemingly capable of playing much more quickly at the moment. Let's hope it lasts. Unfortunately, we still have no idea how to keep possession in our own end, and we certainly don't seem to know how to defend a lead. Toronto had ample opportunity to make us pay last weekend and didn't. Montreal made us pay today, and were unfortunate to give away a second penalty in stoppage time. Too many turnovers -- Steffen was responsible for a couple lousy ones as well. The play where Trapp got hammered and it resulted in a Montreal yellow card was a complete hospital ball. Zardes is off to a great start. Higuaín is looking like he's in midseason form already. Clean up the defensive blunders, and we're in business. Also, dare I say it, Mensah actually looks like a player. Let's hope that like many other MLS DP's who struggled in season 1, that season 2 is when he turns it on. Still haven't figured out what happened to Abubakar. Did he get a head knock late that just wasn't seen right away? Illness? Gamesmanship? Curious to get the explanation after the fact.
Walking around the mezzanine after the match, they of course played Toto’s Africa. Got something in my eye. What’s wrong with me?
That game was one of my favorite 3 to 2 wins for the good guys in recent Crew history. Boy did it feel good to be home. If any of you guys are going to claim you had a dry eye during Wise men say, then you can just save that lie for another day. Nice to meet you. Though your comment about the Africa song is a bit suspect.
Was disappointed by the negative tactics in the second half. Bunker ball never works. Attendance looked bad from section 122. We lucked out on this one. Need to cut out these damn turnovers in the second hlf. Crew lose that intensity - hope it's just an early season fitness thing that gets better.
I was one of the many not there. I hope people dont jump on others for not being there.. Its a no win situation when it comes to people deciding if they want to give PSV money. But we all know no matter what each party will spin attendance to fit their narrative.
You have to keep in mind that the team is owned by an owner who by his actions has indicated he hates Columbus and actively is working to harm the city and the fans. That is his intent. He has no empathy, not a shred of decency or compassion for the city. Given that backdrop, the turnout was pretty phenomenal.
My STH cards did not work - red X. I was let in anyway. I went to guest services and requested that they scan something so we would show up in attendance. I prefaced that request with “no offense but the owner would love us to not be scanned “. The guy knew exactly what I was saying and sent someone out to get 2 scans in at the gate.
