I can believe it. Cleanliness is a benchmark for standards, and local BKs seem to struggle compared to competitors.
The Easton location was an absolute disaster the past 6-7 times I went. Once you got your food, it was fine, but it was actually getting the food that was the problem. Constantly understaffed, broilers out (LOL NO BURGERS LOL) and clueless staff. The manager seemed to be competent, but I'm guessing his hands were largely tied by the franchisee. A few times I saw what appeared to be corporate folks in the store working with the manager, so maybe they were trying to make some improvement. I have no idea.
I had not been to a BK in years, but then BK rolled out the impossible whopper. We have had it nearly a handful of times. Pretty decent. I look forward to more meatless options at various places going forward.
I’ve not been impressed with Five Guys. It’s okay I guess, but I don’t understand the allure. There are a lot better burger options elsewhere. Smash Burger is in the same boat.
Five Guys is like something I can do just as well at home. As denizen of the Akron area, my preferences are Swensons and the BurgerFi in Cuyahoga Falls.
I need a second mortgage to get a meal for 4 at Five Guys. Two double burgers, two single burgers, large fries to spit and 4 drinks is like $60. I like their burgers, especially the choices in toppings (grilled onions and A1!) but damn for that price I have a pretty wide selection of spots and for half that price (or less) I can go to any number of fast food spots and get a decent meal and be able to make my house payment.
I pretty much agree. I love Five Guys. But if I'm going to spend $15 on lunch, it's going to be at a restaurant. Not burgers and fries.
The "Impossible Whopper" was marketed as the "Rebel Whopper" in Hungary. Seems like other countries in Europe do as well.
This. Though I think Five Guys is way overrated. Wendy's style patties. Big whoop. Yes, they put seasoned salt on the fries. I can do that once I get home. For $15 I can get real food. Or Thurman Cafe.
Makenzie River has great burgers for under $15. TBH though, Waffle House’s bacon patty melt is one of the best burgers on the planet. Texas toast and make it a double for $1 more.
Man this Crew Stadium 2.0 thread got seriously hijacked by.....hamburgers. Has anyone looked at the stadium cam lately? A beautiful hole roughly in the shape of our stadium has been created, with alot of heavy equipment and construction action happening! https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/construction-cam By the way, Arch City Tavern absolutely has the best burgers in this city!
A walk through the site of our future home 🏟Downtown with #Crew96 pres. by @ColumbiaGasOhio— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) January 10, 2020 "April, May, June" is when we'll really start to see more of the above-ground structuring taking shape.
Great find. Thanks. So pumped. Two things: 1) Whatever those things are called, they'd better be made by Dow Chemical, cause they're real touchy about the use of the word Styrofoam, a trademarked term that they zealously, even fanatically, protect. If it ain't from Dow, then it's "beaded foam" or you're getting a nasty lawyergram. 2) It's interesting that the video is sponsored by Columbia Gas. Seems like an odd thing to randomly sponsor, or even send a sales guy out looking for someone to pay for, particularly since, with Dee's media production operation, it doesn't cost much. It makes one wonder if there's a stadium sponsorship being hinted at.
AEP owns that building with the tall stack across the street. With no inside information, for some reason they stand out as a potential name. Ohio Health, maybe, too?
Columbia Gas was one of the first ones to do a nicely produced - "welcome to the neighborhood" video and push on social media. Hopefully it's a growing partnership. If that means stadium naming rights, great! If it's jersey (doubtful), great! I don't care if it naming the bathrooms, if they want to spend some marketing $ on our beloved team and be a visible supporter, I'm all for it and will thank them every chance I get either with my wallet or simply my words.
