Well, we made it more difficult than it probably needed it to be, but Ola Kamara's 17th of the season wins it. We're actually in position to have a shot at a first round bye if we win next week.
Well... chicago has to lose, atlanta has to draw or lose, and we have to win in nyc. Chicago is at houston and atlanta is in ny. Possible, but unlikely imo. If standings stay the same next week, we're at atlanta in the first round. Ugh...
A good win on the road in a loud (and emotional) environment. Wasted more chances than we finished. One more and the regular season is over.
Atlanta's actually home to Toronto. NYC's Harrison got a red tonight, so he'll be out. Houston is no slouch, and Toronto isn't going to lay down. It's absolutely possible -- and we only need draws from the other games. Then again, after this week, it's hard to hold onto the "if we get other results to go our way" concept.
We just need to win and pass NYC and avoid playing @ Atlanta in a knockout gm which would be the worst possible draw
Our defense looks like it might be finally finding itself. We just went on the road and held someone without a shot on goal. Our ability to screw up golden opportunities to score continues to be maddening. Pipa looked off all night, but he came up with the switch to Jimenez which led to the goal.
I agree in principle, but Mensah still showed his ability to screw up a defensive play tonight. I'm referencing the play in the second half with the looping ball that Steffan came off his line to catch but Mensah headed it right to an Orlando player, who fortunately wasn't able to get a clean touch (and Steffan cleaned up). A more capable team--like any of those we'll face in the playoffs--would finish that.
Orlando's strategy of lulling us to sleep for 92 minutes then tying it up with a Kaka special almost worked.
Got to finish better. Not going to get away with that in the playoffs. Orlando's finishing was even worse. Still, this team is peaking and it shows with this side playing consistent minutes together.
