Jon Busch can go rot in hell. Why would anyone want that piece of crap back with The Massive. That guy has given the Nordecke the finger multiple times and even kicked soccer balls into the supporters section. He can go couch his kids little league team for all I care.
There were NASL teams in both Edmonton and Calgary. In fact, the Edmonton side, owned by Peter Pocklington, the same guy who owned the Wayne Greztky-era Oilers, routinely out drew the Toronto team. In addition, the guy in Ottawa still wants an MLS side and Garber has said publicly that if they can get a stadium built they can have one. And I figure that sine Toronto is a great soccer city along the lines of London, Madrid and Rome, that they ought to be able to easily manage two teams. Making it: Toronto I Toronto II Vancouver Montreal Edmonton Calgary Ottawa Not a bad little league. Kind of like the way the NHL was years ago.
Honestly, they can't start a league. Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and? Ottawa? A four team league? Just for good measure I'll throw in Calgary and Edmonton which brings us to 6. Winnipeg for 7?
Reading the updates in Mitchell's Blog and I will be interested to see additional details on the Re-entry Draft and Player Movement section. While this information from Mitchell is not the final document, it is interesting to note: 1. All of the draft situations involve paying the player at their current level or higher. What if nobody wants to pay that amount but willing to pay slightly less? 2. Players 30 years old with 8+ years in MLS must be offered at least 105% of their previous salary by their current team or be allowed to go into the Re-entry Draft. While this would be a rare case, could it be possible for a player maturing later in their career (like a GoalKeeper) to be held hostage by their current team by offering 105% when they are worth much more?
What in it for the team to hold up a spot on the bench and that much salary with a player they are not going to be playing though?
Sure seems like only former Crew players getting cut... RT @MLS_Insider: Colorado release Pat Noonan. http://bit.ly/cV7TyM
You know who I think will actually be good this year in the East? I think NYRB will be in the mix again. I think watching NYRB that Lindpere and Miller were two very nice signings, mid-20's, composed guys with lots of experience from some top Scandinavian clubs with European Cup experience. You put professionals like that behind JPA and some promising strikers like Kandji and Salou and they'll be one of the better teams in the East. I don't think Chicago will be too good this season. Especially if they're going with Dykstra in net. And, I don't think Collins John is worth much anymore. 1. Columbus 2. D.C. United 3. New York 4. Chicago 5. Kansas City 6. New England 7. Toronto FC 8. Philadelphia Union
Query whether these cuts have something to do with the new CBA? In otherwards better cut now before they become guaranteed contracts,
...and the realty. I'd have Pat back, but we need a defender not a forward where we have an embarrassment of riches eh bill?
All we need is another fullback (maybe Yanez fits the bill, we haven't seen him yet), maybe a better backup GK. I'm comfortable with everything else.
If the salary were right, Jon Busch over Andy Gruenebaum or Kenny Schoeni for Hesmer's backup? Then again, the salary would likely never be right. Then again, maybe he would settle since he still has roots in Columbus. Then again, why mess with a decent situation.
