I am sorry the kid is from Brazil. Not even the same language. He’s not Catalan. He is mercenary!

 

Nothing brought me greater joy than Barca getting ousted by Juvi in the CL last season.

 

Not mercenary. We would've paid him more. If that's the league everyone in your area watches and talks about, much like the PL in my area, then your going to have an affection for that league/team. It's like if I was playing in Germany and LFC came calling. Would people say "he's from US, he doesn't know a word of scouse, why does he want to play there? Must be mercenary."

 

How do you know the terms of his contract? Or what we offered? Plus you wrote it was like a Scouser, you didn’t suggest he grew up following Barca. That may be true but Barca isn’t his home town team. And I am firmly convinced if PSG has come calling with a better deal all of a sudden they would have been his dream.

 

No reason to believe that... he might have wanted to go play with his friend, though.

Whatever. It's over now. Got good money for him. I'd be curious to get a look at the language of the add-ons.

 

Here in Brazil Spanish League is rated much higher than EPL plus Barcelona is a major club for us since Romario played for them. Coutinho himself said he dreamed of playing for them and everyone knows he wanted the move last summer. According to Jurgen Klopp

"It is no secret that Philippe has wanted this move to happen since July, when Barcelona first made their interest known.

"Philippe was insistent with me, the owners and even his team-mates this was a move he was desperate to make happen.”


Not a mercenary move at all you can argue that he had no love for LFC and was even disrespectable toward the club but this wasn't a money driven transfer.
