hi, Mexican clubs got kicked out of Copa Sudamericana. will same thing happen to Copa Libertadores? I guess CONCACAF forcing it? By the way, how do you allocate teams that go to CONCACAF CL and Copa Libertadores? I guess same club can't go both for scheduling and COCNCAF forcing? Anyways, the article says the review is in this month!!! http://www.concacaf.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,12813~1858189,00.html 06/30/2009 CONCACAF discontinues participation in Copa Sudamericana NEW YORK - CONCACAF has elected to discontinue participation in CONMEBOL's Copa Sudamericana. CONCACAF clubs from the United States, Mexico and Central America have taken part in the Copa Sudamericana since 2005, with Mexico's Pachuca being crowned champion in 2006. In 2005, CONCACAF reached an agreement with CONMEBOL to play in four editions of the South American club tournament. The agreement was satisfied with the appearance of Mexican clubs CD Guadalajara and San Luis competed in the 2008 edition. Now, with the CONCACAF Champions League in its second year and the higher level of activity in the confederation, CONCACAF has elected not to extend its relationship with CONMEBOL for the Sudamericana. "We regret that Mexico's Copa Sudamericana designees Monterrey and Puebla will not participate in the tournament due to CONCACAF's decision," CONCACAF General Secretary Chuck Blazer said. "However, we hope that both teams will have opportunity to participate in future CONCACAF competitions." "By contrast CONCACAF is committed to the 2010 Copa Libertadores and will utilize Interliga to qualify teams. In November the Executive Committee will review CONCACAF's future participation in the Libertadores."
this is old dude..and that was already discussed months ago...we will have 5 teams in the libertadores in 2010
hey dude, did you read? "By contrast CONCACAF is committed to the 2010 Copa Libertadores and will utilize Interliga to qualify teams. In November the Executive Committee will review CONCACAF's future participation in the Libertadores." Yea, 2010 is that, but the review for the future is this month!!!
actually i think they went ahead and confirmed the participation of mexican teams in libertadores in the fifa conference in bermuda if im not mistaken, JW and Fat Blazzer said that the only tourny that was jeopardized was Copa Sudamericana for obvious reasons that have already been stated... It would be bullshit if we got it taken away from us since it was the FMF that did the lobbying to get us in...concacaf only gave permission but shit they would be stepping all over all those millions that the fmf had to put up fron to play in the tourny.
"In November the Executive Committee will review CONCACAF's future participation in the Libertadores." well, the whole forum is kind of dead.. It says the review is in November, I didn't see anything coming up in November on that issue.
It was obvious to me you didn't see that. The review is in November, and no posting about that. If you have nothing more to offer, go away.
