I have never seen a team waste as many flagrant goal opportunities as this Grêmio side. I think the team might be trying to get rid of Celso Roth, who is a terrible coach (and was somewhat responsible in leading Sport to the second division some 8 years back), but also know that they can't afford to lose.

I doubt they did that on purpose. That late 2nd half play where the guy lightly tapped the ball only to see it bounce off the post... too much of that nowadays.

Yeah, Luduena had a nice match as well, and he contributed to both goals. I had to go with Pedrito, though, and his two goals. Especially in a week in which so few goals were scored.

I think the victory of Deportivo Quito adds a lot of spice to that group. Same with Colo Colo victory, San Martín victory and Everton-Lanús tie for their respective groups. Things get more interesting.

Wow! Everton's goalie saves a penalty and lucky for Lanus they score on the rebound.

Lanus was knocking on the door, though. Nice game so far.

Funny, I see Everton playing with Boca's jersey, and it makes me want to root for them. It's too bad they're not a very good team.

True, Everton came out smoking, but they've slowed down a bit since then, and Lanus had a bunch of good scoring chances. Everton's goalie has kept them in the game.

It's a very entertaining match so far. Both teams know they desperately need a win to stay alive in the group.

Right, so I understand how a team that had been playing relatively well for 20 min. can be "such a bad a team", according to you?

Granted, I don't cheer for them (in fact, I hate them) but I failed to see the logic behind your post.

My comment was an appreciation based on watching them throughout the whole tournament, not just tonight.

Plus, I'm not faulting their attitude, they are playing hard and their effort is keeping them competitive so far, but they've made some serious defensive mistakes and but for great goalkeeping they would be down by more than one goal.

Right now it's still anybody's game though. Should be a fun second half.
