I posted this in the season thread yesterday: News about Wednesday's game in Copa, lots of rest and rotation: Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique, Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba will all sit out the clash with Cultural Leonesa. In fact, they won't even take part in the training session on Tuesday, as they enjoy a break following their Clasico victory. Three injured players - Lionel Messi, Samuel Umtiti and Thomas Vermaelen - will also remain at home. Valverde will use the midweek clash to give the first team's non-regulars and youngsters a chance to impress. EvilAllan responded in season thread yesterday: would be interesting to see something like: Dembele--------Munir--------Malcom -------------Denis-----Alena------------- --------------------Vidal-------------------- Miranda--Cuenca--Chumi--Semedo ------------------Cilessen----------------- Puig on in the second half maybe try out Rafinha at LB at some point too? -------------------- I like that lineup, but we need to see Samper play too.
WHAT?! What the hell is the problem with this idiotic, clueless excuse of a coach we have?! I swear, if the no-name players allow the Helmond Cup to be pried away they should all be released in a New York minute and Nesto the Imbecile should be banned from the bus and let him find his own way to a new job. Un-freakin'-believable!
Details of academy players training with first team two goalies (as Jasper is having stomach issues), 2 CBs (as we need to rest both first teamers since we only have 2 healthy at the moment), Miranda (need to rest Alba), and Puig (he's Puig, the La Masia revelation of the preseason, even if we have plenty of squad players who play similar positions: Alena, Samper, Vidal, Denis, Rafinha). MARCA: Ernesto Valverde has called up six academy players to train with the first-team ahead of Wednesday's Copa del Rey game in Leon against Cultural. Chumi and Riqui Puig are the best known faces, but they are joined by Cerevic, Miranda, Cuenca and Inaki Pena. Lazar Cerevic is a Montenegrin goalkeeper who plays for Barcelona B and has taken part in three games in the third division of Spanish football this season. Inaki Pena is another goalkeeper called up because of the gastroenteritis being suffered by Jasper Cillesen, who in theory will be the custodian in Leon. Juan Brandariz, better known as 'Chumi,' has been in the last two LaLiga Santander match squads with the first team and also for the Champions League game against Inter. Jorge Cuenca won the respect of Valverde last summer and is one of the most trusted defenders at the academy. Juan Miranda is a left-back who won the battle with Cucurella to be Jordi Alba's backup option, and he didn't play last weekend against Espanyol. He also recently signed a historical renewal with a 200 million euro release clause. Last but not least is Riqui Puig. He proved on the pre-season American tour that his level is sufficiently good to be able to enter the first team. Like Xavi Hernandez, he's a player with exquisite ball control and offers solutions to his teammates at all times.
Cillessen Semedo-Chumi-Cuenca-Miranda Alena-Vidal-Denis Malcolm-Munir-Dembele Try not to play Roberto, Lenglet, and Arthur as all are getting regular minutes. Sub on Samper and Puig and maybe Rafinha. We have to have 7 first teamers on at all times I believe, and not clear how Alena counts given #26 jersey he may count as a 2nd teamer for now, which is why I have Samper on as a sub.
Official: our predictions were close, only Samper in for Alena. Dembele--------Munir--------Malcom -------------Denis-----Vidal------------- -----------------Samper-------------------- Miranda--Cuenca--Chumi--Semedo ------------------Cilessen-----------------
Tough match so far, there is no cohesion in Barca's play at all. It is somewhat expected with this many changes.
Still in 3rd place all time but moving up the Helmond all timers list. I don't even thing today's game has been registered yet, better get scared Chelsea: http://www.helmondcup.com/stand.html
The ranking should really be based on # of matches, not points. Someone is missing the point. But either way, Barca #3. Would’ve been kinda funny if the Cup wound up in the Spanish third division. Could’ve been stuck there for years had Leonesa gotten the late goal instead. PS. So LPB only had the Cup for one game?
