    Sampaoli already playede against liga in 2008 with Emelec in Quito and lost 2-0. He knows the turf and the problems playing there. I dont think U de Chile can bring much game. if the play a 4-3-3 they will be eating up be Ligas speed and the pitch

    Chileans don't suffer too much with altitude. U de Chile is a fast team too so that's probably not a concern.

    Liga on its own is a good team, regardless of the altitude. They have experienced players that know how to play (and win) international finals. That should be U de Chile's and Sampaoli's main concern.

    Actually, because of the speed with which U plays, altitude affects a lot faster

    The fact that some players played in the past at high altitude, doesn`t imply that in the future their levels of hemoglobine, will remain high. Once these players, leave hight, their levels will slowly level up, to those of the players who play at sea level. The reason why their levels rise in the first place, is the lower amount of Oxygen in the atmosphere at height, which stimulates the production and hemoglobine increase by the body, in order to compensate this lack.

    In order to keep their levels high they must remain at height for long periods of time, or regularly pass part of their time at height.
    :)

    Anyhow, I believe that U. de Chile`s trainer must sure know how to dosificate their rythm in order to keep up their usual level of game and in the process extenuate Liga`s players instead. The lack of Oxygen in the atmosphere doesn`t make tireless players (they get tired as well), it only enhances their use of the Oxygen that surrounds them.

    hahaha thanks wikipedia.

    Doesnt matter the altitude, opponent or instance of the cup, Sampaoli and the team will go out the same we have during the whole tournament. Dep. Quito is an excelent team, but if Sampaoli didn't change his tactic to play more intimidating teams, then I don't why he would do it for an ecuadorian team.

    I was thinking the same thing: it could be a double-edge sword. BUT the fact that Sampaoli already worked in Ecuador might work as an advantage, too.

    Didn't we beat Cobreloa and Calama in their own stadiums this season? I think La U should be capable of holding their own. I expect a tight match. I'm more concerned by the experience of our opponents. I can see some of our men going in a bit hard on tackles due to nerves. They have to rise to the occasion and remain cool-headed.

    I'm pretty sure the games against Cobreloa and Cobresal were played in Santiago this season. Either way, trips to Calama and El Salvador are the norm and these are located at 2260 m (7400 ft) and 2300 m (7545 ft) respectively, not too far from the 2,850 m (9,350 ft) of Quito.

    When I said that historically altitude never affected our players I not only meant that in a physical sense but also in a psychological sense. When the body isn't responding up to par I think our players can cope with the situation better than, say, a typical Brazilian or Argentine.

    Like you mention, Liga's stacked with experienced players capable of winning finals... that should be the concern. I expect both legs to be very tactical games.

    En Liga Dep.Univ.de Quito, el defensa Diego Calderón sufrió una distensión en su muslo derecho y no sería titular.

    En Univ.de Chile, el delantero Francisco Castro iría a la banca. En su lugar jugaría un mediocampista: Albert Acevedo (defensivo) o Gustavo Lorenzetti (ofensivo).

    Posibles formaciones para mañana:

    LIGA D.U.Q:
    Alexander Domínguez;
    Jorge Guagua, Norberto Araujo, Geovanni Caicedo, Néicer Reasco;
    Lucas Acosta(ARG), Fernando Hidalgo, Paúl Ambrosi,

    Matías Rodríguez(ARG), Marcelo Díaz, Albert Acevedo, Eugenio Mena,
    Charles Aránguiz;
    Gustavo Canales y Eduardo Vargas.

    I'd be disappointed if we can't get a draw with all the loses in LDU.

    I don't care a whole lot about this tournament, but looking at the two teams, chances are it's going to be one hell of a final. And unless they get intimidated by the altitude, I think La U Chilena takes it. They look to me to be the better of two very strong teams.

    I'm sick of the Argentine Fed's constant changing of international qualifying. So now because of their idiotic rules, Banfield are currently qualified for next year's edition of this tournament. They qualified by winning 10 games and losing 17! WTF! Bullshit rules.

    And Arsenal steals Racing's Lib spot just because Arsenal were in this tourney, even tho they sucked in it. This is the 2nd year in a row Racing gets the rug pulled from under them. But at least last year, Independent had to win this tournament in order to oust them. Arsenal gets to oust them this time by being mediocre. WTF!!!

    What bullshit rules will they come up with next? Best looking unis get Lib spots? Or maybe they'll let Tano Pasman pick out of a hat.

    Hey is Quito giving priority to this Cup or to the league? I think winning the league's 3rd place would be easier than beating U-Chile. They gotta choose the easier route.
